I'm finally moving to California!! I've lived in North Carolina nearly all my life and fortunately I never picked up the southern draw that is so prevalent here... Originally from Seattle, I'll be staying in Antioch, CA starting around July 5th(Packing up on June 22nd) with my brother. Can't wait. California's got everything and so much to offer compared to NC. Wish me luck!

Well, the county I'm living in now has some of the highest taxes around in NC. I know they're high in CA but atleast I won't have to pay rent when I'm living with my brother...

Congradulations. Getting to live someplace completely different gives you the opportunity to see more of what this great country has to offer. Don't be shy about taking advantage of everything there is to do.

I found out DSL is offered in the area too. Finally no more dial-up...

I went to the Charlotte Speedway this past weekend to see a NASCAR race.
North Carolina is a really clean State, but the Southern drawl is really irritating.
I am thinking of relocating to the South when I retire. Would you recommend North Carolina or not? Do they accept Northerners (Yankees) or has that changed?
Since I was there only a couple of days, I really couldn't tell if it is a decent place to live or not.

Oooh, Antioch... hmmm...
Well, it should be better than NC, and you will probably notice a lot of differences. Also, depending on how much you get around, you will find that California varies greatly depending on the region. Antioch is on the periphery of the Bay Area, so that will also make a difference.
Anyway... good luck, and welcome!

there was never anyone or anything there on the first place! :P
heh. i guess i'll give ya an early welcome to the bay area :) and dsl, there are lots of dsl companies 'round, and some cable providers. i'd shop around. i'm going through pacbell at home, and directvdsl in my apartment. directvdsl has the better package now, if u can get that, i'd go for it instead. :) i just renewed my contract. 1 year contract, $49.95 per month (2 months free for a 1 year contract, or u can just pay $49.95 monthly). static ip, and decent speeds. :)

Tito's huh? I might do that/ My brother works at Home Depot now so I'm going to be applying there. Are there Best Buys on the west coast? Johnny, NC is a pretty nice place. Good scenery and so forth. Southerners are some of the most talkative people you will meet. I don't think it matters where you come from to them, if you have some stories to tell, you're welcome.

Thanks, Sonyguy... you know.. you don't realize how really uptight that Northerners are until you leave the area. When I went to N.C> , it seemed that most people had a smile on their face. That is rare around here.

Yeah, I visited New York City and everyone seemed to be on their own wavelength. Most people were walking down the sidewalk with a cell phone to their ear. And if they weren't, they just seemed kinda uptight like you said. Things are slowly changing down here though...
