I recently purchased a 1.6 GHz Northwood CPU and I continue to be confused by the power demands of high speed processors. I was looking at one case that came with a 300W power supply and it said it would support P4's up to 1.5 GHz. So my question is, when I buy my case do I need a 350W power supply or a 320W or what?
Buy the biggest power supply you reasonably can. The quality of power supply also matters. Antec and Enermax are good brands.
I use a 400 watt Antec PP412X in my P4 system.

My brother is running a P4 1.8 w/ 1 HD, 2 CDROMs, and the usual stuff all off a 300W power supply and it works fine. When we plugged in a second HD to copy data, it still held no problem.
A bigger power supply doesn't cost much more.
Just make sure to buy a decent brand.

That's why I got a case with 420W PSU! :D
