So there must have been a situation where you needed to take a day off, badly, what did you do to get it? ;)

Fortunately for me... I work for the Gubment.

We get paid leave days that we can take whenever we like, an hour at a time....

Wanna get off early... go right ahead, charge it to "LEAVE".
Wanna not come in... go right ahhead, charge it to "LEAVE".

Wanna wait at home for the UPS man to deliver your DELL laptop.... Ummm, you get the point. :hihi:

and then we wonder why the whole system doesn't work ;)

I faked apendicitis once. The sucky thing about it was that I got appendicitis that same night. I must have jinxed my self.

Kill the boss, hide the body. Then who will be keeping track?

Parent's funeral works, but only twice. Siblings funeral works too. Sisters are better, you can show them a short obituary for just about any woman, for a brother they will wonder why the last name doesn't match. And how can he prove that you didn't have 7 sisters?

Just calling in sick works, so long as you don't do it too often. The trick there is when you really are sick you should go in. That way you can tell them that you don't feel well enough to came in and they will think you are too sick to walk. It's important that you don't do that and be seen later that evening. I would call my boss and say Hi, I am calling in dead today. If I am alive tomorrow I will let you know. But in the early (before 8 ) morning my voice sounds like I have just clawwed my way out of a coffin, so I have an advantage there.

Tell you boss you need a "Mental Health Day" if he objects, go to a doctor, tell him that job stress is killing you and get on disability for 3 months. Then when you get back, point out to your boss that it would have been easier to let you have the one day off. Make sure your disability insurance covvers this before attempting.

*scratch scratch*"Umm, boss. I got to go see a doctor... I have this itching..." *scratch scratch* "I don't know if it is contagious..."

my excuse, even though it was about half true, was calling in at 6 in the morning and leaving a msg on my boss' machine saying i've been up studying all nite and i really don't think i can come into work later that day. worked great!!! :P

One thing I like about my work is that they have days that are "sick/personal". If I am sick, I take a sick/personal day. If I have something personal I want to do, I take a sick/personal day.

One thing I don't like about my work is that they only pay you for 7 sick/personal days a year.

i just told my boss that if he doesn't give me a day off, i'll call in sick... he said well now i know that you will do that, i said i will also bring you a doctor's note with an illness of your choice..... he let me take the day off :)

Man... I guess I'm lucky in that I have had nice bosses. If I have something that I have to do, I just tell them and they let me do it. However, I do make sure that I do make up for the work that I missed. :)

Well... those of us with kids can just about always play the "sick child card"...

That's good until they become teenagers I think. :hihi:

then you know it's time to get some more children

I figure once I get a job I'll worry about those excuses.
