best router to share Cable access

is it as easy as plug and play to share cable connection?

I picked up the Netgear RT314 (cuz my friend offered to sell it to me for $20). After plugging in the CAT5 cables, it was setup within 5 or 10 minutes (thank you, winxp ;))

I use the SMC7004ABR router with WinXP (both computers) to share internet connection!

well I was talking to my friend about cable. he said he had to clone one of his nic card mac address to his router so that the ISP provider think that only one computer is on the cable network and not multiple computer. oh by the way he uncap his cable modem......and it literally smoke 4MB download, reported from dslreport.com. saw it with my own EYES :eek:
