Adding rear speakers on Sound Blaster Live! 5.1

Simple problem: I've got a 3 piece Labtec system in the green front jack, and I plugged in a new Altec Lansing 3 piece set in the black back jack. No rear sound out of the Altecs. It has worked in the past, maybe 9 months ago when I plugged in another set in the rear, but it's funky now.

The Altecs work fine in the green jack, so I'm kinda baffled! I looked for some software settings, but couldn't find anything. It's just a stock SBLive 5.1 card, not MP3+ or X-Gamer.

check the creative mixer to see if you have the speakers set up in 4 speaker mode. make sure its not in 5.1. and im assuming its not in digital mode, but if it is, set it to analog.
