The bank is best but if that is not available to you...Is the issuing institution nearby? If they are postal or from say Bank of America you should be able to go into a branch with the MO and an ID and get it cashed. If you can't do that get a friend to do it for you and buy him a beer afterward. If all that fails get your ass down to the ghetto and go to a "checks cashed" place. They'll do it but they will charge you for the service.

And I gotta ask...What did you do to wear out your welcome down at the bank?

Yeah, you should definitely open up a savings account and deposit your money orders. You can always cash them at a Checks Cashed place but they will take away a big chunk of the amount as a fee.

At Washington Mutual, you can get a savings account with your parent or older sibling and there is no monthly fee until you become over 18. My brother has one of those accounts and he is your age. You'll get an ATM card too so you can withdraw your money at any time.
