View Full Version : ATI AIW Readeon 8500DV question

Hey i have a question. Does the 8500DV allow to capture video in PAL format. I know it has s-video in (thats what i need) but i have a europian camera which records in Pal. SO i need to know if i will be able to connect it to my pc to capture video.

don't quote me on this.. but i think it can.. i have the card.. and i think i remember seeing the PAL option somewhere.. but i'm just startin to get acquainted with this card.. so me dunnos =P

I see, do you still have your manual?
If you could, please check, because i really need to know since if it does not support PAL i won't buy it...

i just checked the manual, and i didn't find anything that mentioned PAL. the only thing it mentioned about european stuff was that it works with european televisions. :shrug:

nah.. just hold off on a system for a few years.. save up.. then splurge on a nice one =) get ooo's and ahhhhs for a while.. then a couple weeks later, and my 15 minutes of fame is up

with dv, u can do digital video stuff? i dunno.. whatever it is, i dont think i even use it.. when i bought mine, there were only two choices. regular 8500.. or the AIW 8500DV.

well, ati's site says that the aiw 8500dv has 64mb and a firewire connection and the aiw 8500 has 128mb and no firewire. i wish they made one with both.

heh, i dont even use the firewire.. i have two firewire ports.. one from my audigy.. they didn't have the 128mb at the time.. man, as always, i shoulda waited.

i think im going to get the 128 mb one. dont really need a firewire capabilities right now, but i could always get the audigy, it would look nicer in my black case anyway.
