I saw an ad for a 100 gig Western digital drive. It was 7,200 RPM with an 8 meg buffer...

I wasn't able to look at the ad closely, but I'm curious if this drive is just the little brother of the 120 gig special edition. If it is, is should be every bit as fast, right?

Yup, it sure is. If it has that 8mb buffer....it's the same as the 120GB drive...just smaller.

Looks like the 80, 100, and 120 have all the same specs for speed. They are all "special edition" drives.

I don't think that I would notice the missing 40 gigs if I set up a RAID 0 array.
