Im getting and HDTV and new sound system in two weeks.....just looking for suggestions on the best way to go. I want at least 55" TV. I will be using DirecTVs HDTV system.

My price range is about up to $3k for HDTV ready system (I will be using DirecTVs box) and up to $1k for sound.

Anyone have any experience with such systems?

Thanks in advance!

D

Hmmm....seems more appropriate for the Home Theater discussion area! And $1000 wont even cover your freaking receiver if you want something decent and this doesnt include things like speakers, dvd player, speaker wire, connection cable, etc. If you really want help, you need to give more information as to what your primary goal is going to be.

:stupid:
i just put together an HT system, and all together, i spent around $1600 (receiver, dvd, cd changer, sub, speakers, wiring). had i bought all the stuff at full price, it would have been around $3000, but i got a lot of the stuff at good discounts.

obviously, you can get a system for a lot less than this (grab an HT-in-a-box for >$500, if you don't care too much about sound quality), but you'll be sacrificing quality (imo, i went about as cheap as i could, while still getting decent-quality stuff).

but like crusher said, if you give us more info about what you want from your system, we can probably give you more advice.
