This was on [H] today. I found it pretty amusing.

Too funny! The copy of Daikatana in the trash was a nice touch!

About 10 years ago I supported a site that used AT&T 6300 PCs - they had either a 5 (standard) or 10MB (upgraded!) hard drive installed.

The spindles had a tendency to stick sometimes, and would not be able to spin back up. AT&T's answer to that was to give the machine a good hard whack on the side to free the stuck spindle. It actually worked great, except for the time when one of the techs had a machine open, and he gave the DRIVE a good whack... right on top of it... with his fist. The drive said 'kkkktzzz' and spun no more. :heh:

I still have an IBM XT with a 10MB hard drive and full height 360K floppy drive. It still works. I don't know if any of my current machines will be that sturdy.

If I wasn't worried about the jinx... I'd tell you that I've never had a problem with any of my IBM drives (75 or 60 series).

Like I said, though... I WOULD say that if I weren't worried... but I am, so I won't.
