The link to the specs in beneath the deal. It records on 8cm DVD-RAM discs instead of tape.

This is gonna be a rant, so ... ignore it if you will ... but I refuse to buy anything panisonic due to their very poor customer service.
I had an amp 'break' 1 year to the day I bought it, which unfortunately was 4th of July. You know how many call centers are open on the 4th? None. So I finally got it in on Monday... 3 days out of warranty.
It's been a year and I still don't have the replacement- I even had a managers manager call me to tell me to stop calling to check the status- she told me it 'shipped' and not to bother calling unless it was more than 3 weeks late.
I called when it was 4 weeks late to find out it was out of stock and was never shipped. So now I'm waiting for one that was going to be available in early June... now it's gonna be available in early july...
Yes, prices and performance are great, but when it breaks it's service that matters and I'll be buying Sony from now on.
Just my 2 cents worth of warning. I'd go into full details but the current report is 4 pages long ;-)

For any lucky person who got it, this probably make a great eBay item.
The previous ones are sold for around $750-1000.

If anyone managed to get one, I'd be interested in buying it off you. Mebbe save you the eBay hassle?

pay for it via CC, sell it before the month is up, put the money in the bank and then pay the CC bill, it's really nothing out of your pocket...

This was noted on the deals page.
The thing that irks me and I'm glad no one has brought it up here yet. People get so mad when they KNOW a website misprices an item then fire off e-mails and make calls to the governor and write letters to their senator. I mean EVERY site has a disclaimer that they have the right to cancel an order without notice or website price mistakes aren't thier obligation to fulfill. I mean I see it as a nice perk. If they ship then good for them. If not you aren't out anything you would have bought if it were the "correct" price.
I think too many people are still caught up in the boom of the late 90's as far as hot deals go because they are NO WHERE as evident as they were then. I do for one miss all the deals but a misprice is hit or miss.
I know buy.com was taken to court but I think it sucks that you can get sued for anything these days.

I wouldn't be so mad if Amazon just admit that it's an error pricing and, maybe, give us a few bucks in GC just to say sorry. I see a poll on the delas page and I posted my opinion there.

I would accept it if they claim it is a typo. But "not be able to obtain the following item"? That is just a lame excuse. A company as big as Amazon should be albe to come up with something smarter.

Truth be told you have no idea if it is a mistake or not. Companies sell things at seemingly low prices everyday. They might have had a glut, wanted to free up cash, make room for new inventory. The point is you don't know their price motivation. It should be enough to look at the price tag and think that's the price without needing to say "okay Amazon now you're sure the price tag on it is right." :P
How would you feel if you went into a store and saw a cool DVD or something for like $10 then went to the counter and they said "sorry, it's $20" (which is against the law by the way)

I called their customer service number and they admitted that they goofed on the price. Which is what they should have done in the mass email they sent. The lady I talked to said they would send out another email when they decide what,if anything, they plan to do about it. I'm still bummed about it though. :(

I'm glad the customer service lady admitted their price error. It sucks that they tried to disguise it by saying their supplier fell thru. I hope they decide to get all the people who ordered some sort of gc or discount code (which you all will then post up...lol). Good luck y'all! :D

You do have a point. I don't have any idea but I'm ass/u/ming it was. One of those too good to be true ordeals. I guess I was just a little one edge last night. :)
