Oh crap... not another game for me to play... I just started Dungeon Siege on Saturday and I'm already almost done with the single player game! ;)
This game does look very very cool though and I'm sure that we will be covering it as well.
yah...i have it..... have i played it? no :P

how big is this game? Is it seemless like DS?
I'm debating on getting it instead of Warcraft3. My coworker's husband can get me WC3 for 50% off, (works at vivendi) but I want the collector's edition...damn.
What's the pace of the game? More Diablo/DS like or slow-paced like Baldur's?
Also, anyone try DM'ing a multi yet? I wanna DM for my friends (mainly so I can smoke and play at the same time =P), but does it require as much interaction as a player character?

Pace is slow. Exactly like BG. But with 3D graphics.
DMing is pretty awesome. It has very nice tools for DMs
I definitively would like to setup a server and DM a game.
Got it this weekend and have been playing it continuously. haha.
I think having a DM spawn more stuff to kill can help make the more exciting.

Its actually 3rd person. like it always has been with Bioware games.

blizzard doesnt really care about the graphics. the game runs smooth on low end systems and even better on high perf.
3rd person... blick even worse.

nice explanation...blizzard doesn't care about graphics? I highly doubt that. They are well known for producing fairly high quality products. This is just one of their attempts at trying another medium (2D to 3D). Based on the beta, I don't think they did as great of a job as I was hoping they would. And how would you know if the game runs smooth on low end machines? Its not out til July 2nd :hmm:

Paying 60$ for this game is like stealing from me. Not to mention I've bouhgt 3 games this month, so this one is on the house.

So what's the word on NVN? Worth the cash?
I was a hardcore Baldur's Gate addict... and I've been looking forward to this one for a while now. Only reason I haven't bought it yet is I'm still in the process of building a Windows box to play it on... (Windows will not taint my Linux pc, and NVN isn't out for Linux yet)...
Worth the bucks?
I'd say it was definitely worth my $55. Just consider that this game is trying to swing more towards the multiplayer aspect rather than the single player. Not to say that the single player isn't good, because I'm doing that right now and it's been fun. However, say goodbye to controlling six people in your party. It will just be yourself and one hired henchman.
But, yes. Worth the dough.

What makes this game so special?
I'm curious cuz it might be worth getting.
I have a couple games that turned out to be not as good as people were claiming: Camelot, I tried it a few times during my trial period and found it hard to log in and more wasting time than anything else. I think it was more a good game for people tired of evercrack and wanting a change. Dungeon Siege was alright, I liked the graphics. I finished it but I never really "cared" about the characters. I was more interested in the individual characters in the Final Fantasies than that game. Story goes a long way I guess. My online experiences with it weren't so good either.
I had more fun with Diablo and D2, much better investments. Easy to get into and bnet(besides lag/bugs) was near perfection. Everything from questing/pvp to treasure hunting. Pvp was much better IMO than DS. I'm now thinking of getting WC3 cuz Bliz seems to make good stuff and I've heard good things from friends.

I feel that $60 for ones and zeroes imprinted on a cd is outrageous. With Warcraft 3 being 60$ they are obviously trying to make this $60 crap industry standard, and I'm sending my message that I will refuse to buy any game priced over $50, and I hesitate to do even that.

I agree those prices are too much. Why not wait until the prices meet your price range?

As far as the game goes, teh single player is decent. It's not as good as Morrowind, but it is still very good. I havent been looking at what the mod community is making, but I'm sure there will be great modules constructed by the online community, which is the great part of the game: beat the boxed single player think you're done? Oh no, you can download a whole new game to play. Can't get a better deal than that.

Usually when a game comes out it goes on sale somewhere for around half the price. I got JK2, Castlewolfenstein and DS for $30 each at frys the 1st or 2nd week the game was out.

ps:is this game better than baldurs gate, dungeon siege, etc?

This game (IMHO) is totally better than Dungeon Siege simply because the story blows it away. You can tell that the programmers spent countless hours on the text scripts. DS doesn't compare.
Compared to Baldur's Gate:
Multiplayer in NWN is a lot better than BG because your friends can join with their own characters and have a lot more control over them.
Single Player in NWN is not as good as BG because BG was more programmed for that story mode. It kind of sucks that NWN only allows you to have one henchman, but they did tone down the difficulty with that. With the setting as it is now, a party of six would be too powerful. However, I think I would have liked a more difficult game, but with 6 characters in your party. This is not to say that single player games suck, because that's what I am mainly playing right now and I'm hooked.

I didn't think Morrowind was all that great. Too slow in my opinion. Running felt like it was in slow motion as well. Maybe the story made up for the lack of playability? Who knows, I didn't play it enough to care.

Yeah I have to agree with that. I especially hate the fact that I can't even equip my henchman. It takes so much away from the game. I like to at least have the ability to equip them so that they don't DIE constantly. Its getting really irritating having to travel to the temple after every other fight. Also, I like having more people with different skills. That way i don't have to keep changing henchmen. Irritating.
I have to say I am not enjoying it as much as I did with the BG series. Graphically, I'm quite pleased that they went with 3D graphics. Some seens are great. But I think they are emphasizing too much on the multiplater aspect that even the single player game isn't as enjoyable playing alone. I don't like having to hunt for people to play with online just so that I get some enjoyment out of this game. My current solution is playing nwn off two machines, so that i can control another character. But this has proven to be a pain in the ass because there's no "follow" mode for party members.

I just got it and I agree that the worst part of this game are the henchmen's AI. Other than that, this game is amazing.
It's almost like Diablo's hack and slash, but with much more story and purpose. It's much more RPG than Diablo, yet it doesn't encumber us people who don't know about DnD rules.
Story is great, graphics are decently great, and I'm seriously hooked.
Now I need a place to play online and to find some modules.

the game is pretty slow at the beginning. but it might get better later, but the beginning is so much talking.

I'm in chapter 3 now of the single player, after being stuck in a section of chapter 2 for a week. Anyone this far yet? The game is really starting to get good now. Level 14 Ranger is what I got.
Yeah, beat it like two weeks ago. You're almost done. Chapter 4 is pretty short.
