firewire restarts computer

i have an HP pavilion computer, and i added a firewire card recently. Whenever i try to capture video, it starts for like 2 seconds then the computer just spontaneously restarts. The card works because i tried it in my friend's computer...anyone have any thoughts? Also, my computer spontaneously restarts when i do netmeeting for a long time w/ my USB camera.

hmmmmmm....well, i unplugged my usb hub and scanner, so now its just the optical mouse in one port, and then the firewire...and it seems to be better...i bet it was the usb hub that was the problem..i can capture video ok up to a point...just small segments..its still really buggy though

hmm, check the rating of the powersupply. You may want to put a real power supply into it. Usually HP's ship with a POS power supply

you wont have firewire issues like this with an apple
