Finally got most of the components for my new system (only thing missing is a new video card). Here's what I have now:

- Intel Pentium 4 1.6A
- ABit IT7 motherboard (that's the "legacy free" board)
- 256MB Samsung PC2700 memory

When people say that the Northwood CPU's are high overclockers, they sure are not kidding. At default voltage, I can hit 150MHz FSB (2.4GHz) with 100% stability, and with CPU temps around 47 degrees under full load (Prime95).

By raising the voltage to 1.7v (default is 1.5v), here's what I achieved (and yes, once again the system was 100% stable).

Here's the rundown of my system:

- Chenming 601AEB (black) case -- similar design to the Antec SX1000
- Enermax 350w power supply (dual fans)
- Intel Pentium 4 1.6A oc'd to 2.4GHz stock cooling
- ABit IT7 motherboard
- 256MB Samsung PC2700 DDR memory
- Maxtor 60GB 7200rpm ATA133 HDD (liquid bearing)
- eVGA Geforce2 MX video card (yes, that's the next thing to be upgraded)
- Hercules Game Theater XP

I do have a temporary CD-RW & DVD-ROM drive in here right now, but I'll soon be upgrading them both to LiteON units (and painting them black).

Guess it's time for the pics:

First up is my case. It's fairly heavy, but it has quite a few nice features such as removeable hard drive cages, drive rail mounts for the 5 1/4" drives, lots of room for case fans, and lockable front/side panels.

The innards of the system. Still have to clean up the cables, but you can get an idea of the board itself. LOADS of IDE connectors (6 IDE channels for up to 12 drives, the yellow ones are controlled by a Highpoint RAID controller).

An attempted pic at the custom backplate for the motherboard. From top to bottom, there are:

- 4 USB 2.0 ports
- 2 Firewire ports
- S/PDIF Out port
- 5.1 channel audio ports
- 2 USB 2.0 ports + LAN connector (the USB ports are being hidden by my network cable)

...and yes, just above my video card, you can see yet another pair of USB 2.0 ports.

Same basic case as mine. I have the rounded cables and my hd sits in the middle of the rack for air flow. Did your case come in that shade of black. Cuz painting this "black" case black is a pain. I'm still debating on what color to paint the inside. I might go all black but I was thinking that white would work to highlight the inside better.
The custom window is a dragon that fills most of the bottom half of my case.
I've been putting off finishing this thing for 2 months and now when I finally get a weekend to work on it everything is messed up.
:bawl:
No biggie I'll finish it and if comes out right it'll be worth it.

The case has not had any modifications done to it, so yes that is the shade of black it comes in. :)

Putting my hard drive in the middle part of the cage actually might be a good idea, as it's a little warm where it's sitting now (although I eventually do plan to toss a fan in front of the cage).

Also, I do have a fan I can use for the front of my case now (below the HDD), so hopefully it will reduce my overall case temperature a few degrees or so (it's currently at 30 degrees C)

I have 5 fans in mine. 2 in front and 2 in back and cutting 1 blow hole. It keeps the case right around 30c. Thinking of going water if i get sick of the noise but its not that bad. Loudest fan is the volc7+ at medium/low.
