Sorry to be a bit off topic, but when Fox leaves Channel 6 in Mexico for Tribune's Channel 5 at the end of August, I'm wondering if the management at Tribune will retain the Couch Potato concept. I'm thinking maybe it's a good idea to use up all points over the summer, just in case.

As an aside, it would be funny if Channel 6 switches to the CW, just reversing the channels that these two networks are on.

Regarding the departure of Chrissy Russo from San Diego 6, here is the response I got from the VP::bandit: :bandit: :bandit:

thank you so much for taking the time to write to us. Since Christina Russo was actually out of town all this week, and out of respect to our viewers and to Chrissy, this morning we had five announcements in our morning news about Chrissy’s departure. In addition, we had the story on our website. http://www.fox6.com/news/local/story.aspx?content_id=cac89877-d564-489f-ba9e-23a3406f4d07

As Marc and Lynda said on-air, this is a very difficult situation because not only did we not want Chrissy to leave the station, we had no indication she was leaving until she told us she was “gone”.

Speaking personally, as the individual who “discovered” Chrissy and gave her the opportunity to be on XETV, and who always believed I had a strong personal friendship with her, I can give you my assurance that Chrissy’s departure was 100% her decision and she made this decision on her own, without ANY discussion with me or ANYONE at XETV.

Prior to her resignation, the only communication I have ever had from Chrissy was “how much she loved working at XETV” and “how happy she was to be here”. In fact, as recently as last week Chrissy told me that she was very excited about the new challenges at XETV and she repeatedly told me that “I could count on her to be part of the team”.

The fact is, we have had always planned on Chrissy and the other members of our San Diego 6 Morning team, Marc, Lynda and Ruben, being with us for many, many more years to come. That is why Chrissy’s departure was a complete shock and a surprise to all of us. I realize everyone has their own opinion on how these type of situations should be handled, but I think we have done the best we could do under the circumstances as they exist.

XETV/San Diego 6 still has the best morning team in San Diego with Marc, Lynda and Ruben, and I can assure you that we will find the right person who will fit the chemistry of that team on San Diego 6 in the Morning, and also to work with San Diego Living.

Again, I hope you will stay with San Diego 6 as your choice for the morning newscast, I know we will continue to deliver for you.

I'm wondering this too, but I suspect it is part of the Channel 6 group rather than the Fox group. It will be interesting to see if we get TWO TV programs. We used to have an Oprah code on Channel 8's program, but that went away. As far as I know, Ch6 is the only TV rewards program at this point.

Hi Guys,

Been on vacation for a while and when i came back while i was watching on fox 6, there was this commercial about the channel will be changed to San Diego 6 and Fox 6 will be Fox 5 and every programs will be aired on ch 5 beginning August. What is the reason for this? I'm sorry if i am not up to date but what will happen then? Are these two channels of the same network just two channels or 2 different networks? Thank you for your response. oh and i miss Chrissy in the morning news, but i do love Rene too.

FOX is changing their affiliation from channel 6 to channel 5.
Their main reason for this is that chanel 6 is a Mexico based station and FOX is forced to follow Mexican rules for their broadcasting, including giving the Government free advertising, which cuts into FOX's revenue. (notice all the Mexican Board of Tourism commercials for example)

In case anyone missed the announcement in the paper, Crissy Russo is the morning weather and traffic girl for the new FOX5 morning show.

Thanks SD Joseph for the explanation. So if all Fox's TV shows like House etc is going to be aired at KSWB then what's gonna happen to KSWB's programs like Smallville? Does this mean that KSWB will not be aired anymore or they too will change channels? I am really confused now about KSWB and the new Fox 5. Thanks for your inputs.

nevermind i just read from the website that the new San Diego 6 is also the new CW chnnel which means that the programs from CW will be aired to San Diego 6. good night all!

I guess their prizes weren't that good and their ad team didn't really get what the people wanted...
The concept seemed good, but their business plan must have failed miserably, or the didn't get the quick-buck they were looking for.

Did anyone get any worthwhile prizes from that?

I got an email about them shutting it down. They weren't getting the sponsers that they needed or something like that. I did get $50 from them. :)

dogo...as for giftzclub...what a collosal waste of time and money! i was already sent 2 or 3 of the monitors to install on my television, which i did, but never saw the light flash the appropriate color if any codes were caught. and my computer never read any codes either. too bad the whole program didn't work. and as far as fox switching to cw, i don't know if this is worth it at all anymore. the prizes have gotten so much fewer and skimpier, and so have the showcases. what do you think?
