They just put some up this morning (they were gone by 10:30 a.m. when I got up). I would check Wednesday or Thursday at 9 a.m., 10 a.m., 10:30 a.m., 12 Noon, 7 p.m., and so on. Good Luck! --Ben :bandit:

I think they have a string of posion codes and if u get enough then u lose ur account cuz so far it sounds like its only hitting those with the super high numbers of points

bendogg
09-21-2004, 10:20 PM
Another person with only 40,000 points was also shut down. Maybe it's when the code was entered?

They mentioned on the show this morning that there's 55,000 Couch Potatoes out there. I hope the closures are over, but they might still be going through all the accounts. Cadetevon disagrees and thinks they can do it all at once, and I hope she's right! We should know for sure in about a week or so. --Ben :shifty:

I got Zapped last night. I'm not sure exactly which code it was but I lost 124,000 points. I probably entered an unconfirmed code by mistake. Just to let you all know. Big Brother and Monika are watching. And for all you fans out there that are sceptical because of my name... I'm Fox6Viper because once I lost a whole gang of points by being de-activated so I swore to get back at those bastards. so I opened a whole slew of accounts and now I've got points out the gazoo. The only thing that bothers me is that the station isn't out anything on these prizes...they'll ALL promotional items they got for free.. Nothing outta their pockets but the loss of viewers for banning their couch potatoes. Kinda defeats the purpose doesn't it?

shabubu
09-23-2004, 02:26 PM
Loss of viewers? Please, no disrespect but they don't care...they know that if you want to watch the shows on their channel, you'll tune in...They don't give any thought to someone permanently banning their station because of this....
I think it's baloney that they don't allow us to "record" the shows to watch at a later time...Especially since some of us (me) work crazy overnight hours and can't watch the shows live that they give out the points during...

found out the code word that is banning everyone is Golf2004 - if you haven't entered it in.. don't.. for me.. I'm done with Couch Potato and Fox 6 - just bad news anyways.. unfortunately I lost all the points of the true codes I entered. It's all kinda silly anyways - aside from movies.. there's more crap for points then anything else.. Thanks to all who shared codes and the underdog!

Jontas
09-23-2004, 03:13 PM
what code was it that got us banned?

Golf2004

It was suspected that this code was valid, but people were getting caught for entering it early, before it was officially released. Now we now that it was never an official code. It was posted on another forum by two very suspicious new members who we now believe were from FOX6. anyway the code soon got posted here and so far many of the people who entered the code have had their Couch Potato accounts deactivated (or inactivated, whatever).
Some of us who used the code have been lucky so far, but it may just be a matter of time before we too are deactivated. I am very anxious, but there's nothing anyone can do. Aside from spending all your points while you still have them. Hope this helps.

BTW I got 500pts for Hill

I entered Golf2004 and my account hasn't been deactivated....yet! I'll be on the lookout though. Good thing I only have 1000 pts since I wasted them all on the 25K showcase.

For those who were deactivated, can't you just get a new email address and sign up again?

Do you get an email that your acct is deactivated?

Jontas
09-23-2004, 03:53 PM
Right now my thoery is that FOX6 is doing an evaluation of all the Couch Potatos, and deactivating any account that has entered the poison code as they get to it. It seems that they are either working by Alphabetical order of last names, or from oldest accounts to newest accounts. Either way would explain why I'm still safe. I don't know if the first letter of your last name is near the end of the alphabet or not, but I know you are a very new member. So it's probaly just a matter of time, sorry. Spend your poins ASAP. :neartears

I echo the sentiment that it is only a matter of time. If you put that code in, you will go down. Spend whatever you've got and race to Clairemont to pick the stuff up and enjoy.

I know this for a fact because EVERY account (friends...) that I put that code into is gone. I kid you not, they added up to 2 MILLION POINTS! What a damn waste of my time this last year or so. It's been a fun ride. I will recover. I am sorry again for spreading this poison to this forum. --Ben :splat:

Okay guys I put alot of work into this, I think this is vital for us to continue.
Unofficial Rules for Apex Couch Potato forum:

1. Do not disclose personal information.
- Remember that FOX is watching, perhaps even participating, and sharing codes is against the CP rules. If they find out who you are, they will not hesitate to take away your points and cancel your account.
- Any private information related to your Couch Potato account (how much points you have, how you plant to spend them or what you may have already won) should be shared in a private message to another member of the forum if necessary.

2. We confirm codes.
- If you're new don't take it personal if someone confirms a code that you post. Confirming is what works for us.
- Poison codes do exist (Examples: krusty, golf2004), their intention is to catch those who brake the rules.
- You confirm by actually hearing or seeing the code, Not by another source or testing the code to see if it works (Poison codes work too).
- No confirming your own post, a code and a confirmation are two seperate posts.

3. No Guessing or Cheating.
- Don't post guessed codes or put codes in early (like a bonus event that has not started yet or answer to a trivia question that has not been revealed yet).
- Only post a code if you see or hear it yourself, only confirm a code if you see or hear it yourself.
- Do not post a code from another forum unless that code has been confirmed by a Senior member on that forum. You also need to mention the forum you got the code from in you post.

4. Test all codes before you post them.
- Make sure you get your points in green letters (Trivia) or a green confirmation box (codes) that says "Congratulations".
- Make sure the spelling is correct once you post it, everybody makes mistakes, buy some mistakes could cost us all our points.
- Do not compete to see who can post their code first, if somebody beat you, you can always confirm.
- Red means stop (no posting the code whatsoever), sometimes the code is correct and FOX6 will reward you those points later with an email confirmation. By then it's usually too late to post that code, but we cannot afford to post the code under any uncertain conditions.

5. Listen to Senior members and respect fellow members.
- Senior members have alot of experience, which you can trust, and they usually know what's best. They have tons of great advice too.
- Provoking or belittling other members is unacceptable, if you can't respect and show basic curtisy to other people, you should not be participating in any forum - let alone this one.
- If this sounds paranoid or ridiculous to you, please refrain from making posts on our forum. You put the rest of us in jepordy.

6. Be specific about the source of the code.
- In addition to posting the code, give a source. For example FITM (Fox in the mornig), Simpson code, upn13 code, Fox6 10pm (News at 10pm), Special event (name the event) code, Internet code, etc.
- If you just post a code without a source, you will recive suspicion or even hostility from other members.

If the senior members could declare these rules official that would be great. Also if there is strong opposition to having these rules on this forum, I will respect that, but at the same time I will no longer continue to participate here.

Jontas, As a senior member I'm totally kosher with the 'rules' as you have layed them out.

And I appreciate the time you put into drafting them.

The important thing for new folks to remember is that we don't verify if they worked or not, nor how much they are worth (though those are not bad pieces of information).

What *does* need to be verified is that YOU heard/read the code LIVE from FOX itself. Not from a friend, not from a coworker and not from another forum.

As of 2pm (now 3pm), I noticed alot more items on the free stuff page. Nothing is available yet, but if you see something you like, keep your eye on it.

A trusted friend (you know who!), just went to collect the 2,500pt golf code, it is Shoot2004 (and I did get 2,500pts for it). Now we will probably not get a confirmation on this code, since nobody else is willing to go check it out. So use this code at your own risk! I'm bound to lose my account anyway, so I don't mind the risk. That's all I have to say about that.

Isn't it cute of Fox to use a code so similar to the poison code. Hell, given my past experience with bonus codes, golf2004 makes more sense than GOLFERS (the correct 500-point show-up code). I can't swear any truer that this is the correct 2,500-point code. --Ben :wavey2:

I got the golf codes:

Golfers is the freebee one for 500pts
Shoot2004 for 2500pts
Skill88 for 1500pts

I tried Skill88 and got the 1500pts, I'm only posting this because I know Ben has seen two of these codes personally. Like I said before use these codes at your own risk. I don't know when the next batch of high point value codes is going to come along.

HILL
Hi everyone, I entered this code yesterday (200 pts) and today (200 pts). I think there is a pattern with the bonus codes. I discovered this today by accidently entering POWDERGIRL's code to confirm. After I got the points (200 pts), I click on my 'transactions' tab only to find out that I entered this code yesterday already. Did anyone else got the double points (total 400 pts)?

First off, Don't bet on those annoying Dearinger coupons going anywhere. Don't you see that they are just hitting us with advertising every time we check for something we actually want. They would just put more up. I swear, they have been there since I joined CP a long time ago.

Here's some new info I got from the "Where to Get Points page:

FEAR FACTOR HAUNTED HOTEL COUCH POTATO CODE
Starting Monday, September 27th, through October 8th, watch Fear Factor weeknights at 10pm on UPN 13 for the “Fear Factor Haunted Hotel Couch Potato Code”. Enter that code and you’ll be in the drawing for a chance to win free passes to all four Haunted Hotel attractions.

- You confirm by actually hearing or seeing the code (and recieving the code directly from the origional source), not by another source or testing the code to see if it works (Poison codes work too).

I won't waste any more space repeating this in the future, refering people to this page(122) would be a good idea.

No word yet on those kids DVDs, although I saw both of them for sale @ Food 4 Less in Mission Valley for $9.88. Fred said they'd have tix for Saints & Soldiers, Taxi, and some movie w/ Hillary Duff this week, as well as a DVD of "Walking Tall" tomarrow, which was a good movie.

They will put Chargers tix on the free stuff page, but when? I'll bet either Thursday or Friday and they won't advertise it. They'll probably raffle off three different pairs. Sunday's game will be blacked out, so if you want to see it, you have to go. I had no problem with Jontas until he/she started acting like the "Forum Nazi"..."No Post for you!" I agree with the rules and we need to be careful...but get off my back for just asking a question! Here you go.

Confirmation? from Jontas

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I'm not sure why your're asking, people will confirm if they got the code, there's no need to ask. If you actually saw the code yourself, you can confirm the code yourself since somebody posted it before you.
If the latter is true edit your post and change it to "Confirming: Bloody" or something to that effect. Please read the rules on page 123, second post.

Always work the system and stick it to The Man.

We all confirm codes that we see. The post for Bloody was the only one that was posted. I wanted a second person to confirm that they saw it. I did not see it myself and wanted to make sure it was valid. There is nothing wrong with asking as I have every right to do so. Not everyone will will follow YOUR rules so I have to be careful. I have already been deactivated by FOX and do not plan on having it happen again. Like I said earlier, it is time to be very paranoid. Let me ask a question and you just worry about people who are posting bad codes. Why do you feel the need to jump on my back about asking for a confirmation? You are taking this a little to far. Figure out what the priorities are and choose your battles.

PM's should be kept private. I think you taking it public is in poor taste.

Jontas, I'm sure, was only trying to help you out.

It does get annoying to read a bunch of posts asking for codes to be confirmed.

We all will post as we hear them. We all will confirm as we can. Asking is annoying and clutters the board.

All of that aside though, I still think that PM's should be kept private. It's not our business and frankly we (I make certain assumptions here) don't much care what goes on in other peoples PM's.

BoxZgrl
10-01-2004, 10:17 AM
Jontas is simply protecting his account by making sure EVERYTHING is confirmed. Just read the rules, its simple.

And yes it is very distasteful for you to bring this public.. PM does mean *private* message so please keep it that way....

I want to apologize for offending you, I could tell from your post that you didn't understand how the forum worked and I just wanted to explain how things work around her.
First of all the Holocaust is a very sensitive issue for me and I don't appreciate you using the word Nazi in reference to any of my statements, unless I'm attempting genocide on your people.
I sent you one private message (not messages) only which is the one you disrespectfully posted for everyone to see. When I first joined this forum someone criticized something I posted in front of everybody and made me feel very small, that's why I sent you a private message.
Having said this I know how I made you feel and I'm sorry for that. I hope we can see eye to eye in the future. Welcome to the forum, I look forward to your contributions as does everyone else. Peace.

Jontas..and everyone else who reads this. Do not play the martyr card. Don't you watch Seinfeld?!?!?!? The "Soup Nazi"..."No Soup for you"?!?!?!?!? The "Forum Nazi"..."No Post for you" Come on! This is rediculous! Asking for a confirmation is bad?!?!?!!?!? I know a private message is meant to be "private". This isn't the first, and why should I be persecuted for asking a question...or bringing someone's harassment to light? Huh? I have been a member of this forum for awhile now. I know the "rules". What is so bad to ask for confirmation? Every other code is confirmed. I didn't see the confirmation for that one code I asked about. I do not understand what the problem is. Jontas, you send these private messages like you are the "Ruler of the Forum". I have seen the "rules" you have set. And I do not disagree with them. I think they are good to keep us safe from bad codes. No need to remind me which page they are on. I can ask for confirmation if I want. As for bringing his "private" message public. I want you all to see what is going on here. He sends this message like how dare you ask for confirmation. Can't I ask a question. He is just trying to control everything. I understand your rules..I mean suggestions..because you don't set the rules here. I think they are valid and good to follow. Just lighten up. I am tired of typing. I will reply to those who think I am wrong

Thanks for the codes.

How is telling me not to ask for confirmation is helping me out?

In regards to the Fear Factor bonus code, when does it normally come on Peachie? I also wanted to pass along a warning that I saw on the other forum. Someone over there said he received a different code in his e-mail newsletter (but did not post it for his own security). I never really thought about this, but it would be an easy way for Fox to target suspected participants of this or other forums. So, be sure to double-check all e-mail codes before entering them. --Ben Dogg :poke: :lick:

Jontas, just want to say thanks for setting up the rules. And thanks to everyone else here who is helping post and confirm codes. As for you, guppy... I'm not one to talk, since I haven't been a member for very long, but from what I've see you don't appear to be helping what everyone here is trying to do. Please don't ask for a confirmation. I'm pretty sure that everyone who watches FOX or UPN will confirm the codes when they see them, and I don't think the dedicated and active posters here wouldn't confirm them if they could. I also welcome you to these forums, but at the moment I really don't have a lot of respect for you. People here are trying to help each other out, and I'm very glad that Jontas has taken the time to layout the rules not because he wants to be the "forum nazi," as you so eloquently put it, but to help everyone who doesn't want to get their accounts terminated.

EnergyCoffee, I have been a member of this forum for a lot longer than a week. My account was terminated by Fox so I have had to start over. I said this many times. It is time to be very paranoid. Part of that involves me signing up again with this forum with a new screen name. That is why it looks as if I just joined. I know how this forum works. I know to be careful about what codes you enter. That means I need to make sure a code that has been posted is valid. It was about 10:30 at the time I had asked for confirmation. I didn't want to wait all night for someone to confirm so I asked. I am really amazed at how you all think I did something wrong by asking. It is not like I am posting bad codes or causing problems. ALL I DID WAS ASK FOR A CODE CONFIRMATION!!!!!! You guys all refer to Jontas' rules. Here is rule number 2 about confirming codes. Nowhere does it state that we cannot ask for confirmation. ------------------------------------------------------------------

2. We confirm codes.
- If you're new don't take it personally if someone confirms a code that you post. Confirming is what works for us.
- Poison codes do exist (Examples: krusty, golf2004), their intention is to catch those who break the rules.
- You confirm by actually hearing or seeing the code (and receiving the code directly from the origional source), not by another source or testing the code to see if it works (Poison codes work too).
- No confirming your own post, a code and a confirmation are two separate posts.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Just worry about yourself and the people who are posting bad codes. How dare you all give me a hard time just for asking. The code I asked for confirmation on was valid and nobody confirmed it. Doesn't hurt to ask.

I can confirm Monarchs

Alright everyone, I know it may get frustrating for some people, but I agree with guppy. We shouldn't be made to feel bad about asking a question about codes. Sometimes I see codes that are hours old that no ones confirmed and wonder if anyone can. however I don't ask because I fear the backlash from everyone. And I don't think it's right. I think of this forum as a group of friends helping each other out, not bashing each other for small stuff. Can't we all just get along? :hihi:

I just don't understand what good it does to ask for a confirmation. Everyone here tries their best to confirm the codes, and if someone is going to take the time to visit the forums and they CAN confirm a code, I think they would do it instead of waiting for someone else to. I'm not saying it's wrong to ask for a confirmation, or a bad thing to do, but I don't see why it's needed. I also know this has caused more spam to this forum than you asking for a confirmation, so I'm done. Just wanted to say thanks to everyone around here, especially Jontas.
