Welcome back Falcoln! Long time no post! BTW, they will be calling you from the Surgi-Eye place. They change the code once a month and it was posted here a few weeks ago. Thanks for the refresh though, some of the newbies may not know about it. Welcome Whitey!

I don't waste hard-earned points in the raffles anymore. There are 55,000 Couch Potatoes out there, and it just seems like trying to win the lottery. I REALLY wanted that TIVO that they gave away a few months ago. All told, I dumped about 300,000 points into the raffle and didn't win! I think you have the same shot with two entries that you do with 200!-- Ben Dogg

'Big Night S.D.New Year's Eve Gala' is not DOWNTOWN, it's at QUALCOMM STADIUM.

17 Racing Stripes tix available as of 11:48 a.m.

I worked that party last year at Qualcomm Stadium. It seemed like a good time, but I don't really know because I was making the free margaritas instead of drinking them! You shouldn't have to worry about anything scandalous. Qualcomm Stadium is not zoned for anyone taking their clothes off, so unless Janet Jackson is there, you should be in the clear! It's just a bunch of people celebrating the new year and getting loaded! There are worse places to be. It will be indoors (on the Club Level, which Cadetevon knows is awesome :-). I hope that helps.

As far as the free stuff times, here's the most popular times as of lately. Monika is no longer working there, so the times may be changing. The 4 p.m. one is definitely new.

9 a.m., 10 a.m. 12 Noon. 4 p.m., 7 p.m., & 11 p.m. They used to also put stuff up at times like 10:30 a.m., 7:30 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. but have not in a while.

I have never seen them put something up at an odd time. It's always on the hour or half hour. I think they just didn't get around to putting up those Racing Stripes tix until like 10:30 this morning. --Ben Dogg :johnwoo2: :abduct:

The estimated value for points is roughly 1/10-cent, so 10,000 points is about $10. The movie tickets are a great deal because they're usually only 2000 points, and where else can you get two tickets to a movie for $2?

You get about 10-cents worth of points for FITM, evening Fox, evening UPC and the FITM trivia, then 15-cents worth of points for the evening news. That's about 55-cents per day plus other things that come up.

10%-20% off for 20,000 is kind of like giving them $20 to get a coupon.
I guess if you are buying $100+ worth of stuff and get 20% off then it's a wash (and the 20,000 points really didn't cost you anything but time. But other than that it's a sucky deal.

Of course, if you're gonna buy stuff anyway and you have points to burn, then why not get the break.

I can't speak for Dogopoly, but this dogg uses the same formula. Take most DVDs that they gige away. Most of them go for 18,000 points, which equates to about an $18 value. The nicer DVDs like the Disney collector's edition a few weeks ago went for either 20,000 or 25K, indicating a higher value.

Movie tickets are where CP blows away Star and any other rewards program! 2,000 points is 4 days worth of codes. Star charges like 30,000 points for the same premieres, which is 7 weeks' worth of codes (750 points possible per day). That's how I look at it. Fox, unlike Star, has never charged more than 65,000 points for a prize (as far as I know). Star is charging 300,000 points for a $1,000 off of a divorce prize! --Ben Dogg :wavey2:

Where did you come up with your theory Dogopoly? :|

Strickly observation. As Bendogg indicated, if you check market value for many things, you'll see that they're about 1000 points = $1.

If you look at some of the regular things, like the Homer mug, that regularly goes for 8000, and $8 seems about market rate for a custom mug with a trademarked symbol. Likewise, the Homer mousepad for 5000 would be about $5 so that also seems reasonable. And previously there was a $20-off coupon sitting on the site for 25,000 points. That one seemed a bit expensive compared to other things, but was not far off from the formula.

As for the current "FREE SNOW PACKAGE" for 20,000 points, they don't really tell you what you get...is it free slope tickets? That would be a good deal.

Confirming trivia San Diego Harley

BTW...why are there no mole warnings or confirmations in some of the other areas? (Star-100, Kyxy, etc.)After joining this forum I went back and read alot of posts in the past and was in shock when people we are familiar with here would come on and say that Fox had just closed their account or lost all their points. I guess some people had thousands of points. Not to mention, that Fox then knows your real name, addresss, etc.

After reading some of those posts I realized how utterly important it is to #1 - Trust who the code is coming from #2-make sure it's confirmed AND THAT IT'S SPELLED RIGHT, and #3 not to disclose information about myself that could lead anyone at Fox to me. Now if you want to give out your personal web-site that's your biz but I think some senior members in here are giving the newbies warnings for their own good.

BTW Dogopogy - I think you're the fastest person to Make Lieutenant JG that I've seen on here!

Also a good point reddog. I lurked for a few months before posting just so I could see how everything went so I wouldnt make myself too public. I think there are 3-4 people on here that I wait for a confirmation from before entering a code (not all of them but atleast one of them). It's pretty easy to just go with the flow of things around here. There are quite a few newbies and while most are from FW, I never went there so I dont know their "rank status". Thats why I just follow the trustyworthy names on here until I get to "know" everyone a bit more.

bendogg
12-21-2004, 09:58 AM
But What is this STAR that you speak of and how do I get involved with that?

This is the Star 100.7 FM Freeloader program (www.histar.com). It is a good way to possibly win better prizes than from Fox (like a 4-pack of Disneyland tix), but prizes go much quicker, the giveaway times are seldom announced, and stuff goes for a lot more points!

As for the absence of MOLE warnings on other forums, I don't think Star is as vigilant as KYXY or Fox in wanting to shut us down. When poison codes show up here and on other forums, a lot of senior members and others seem to go down hard! I can personally tell you that it leaves a really bad taste in your mouth, and so we warn people frequently. I have heard that KYXY is way more paranoid about these forums and their bans are fro life! I don't mess with them now, maybe in the future. --Ben :guitar: :hihi:

OR even better Tivo it yourself and go back and check! :eyebrow:

And that's exactly why Fox has no reason to complain!
At any given time, people can just record the show and fast-forward through it. I actually talked to someone in line at a movie preview who said he did that!
Then you just enter everything at 11:00pm after the fox news code...

--
Anyway, I've concluded that it's good to wait for confirmation of the code from someone you trust.

If you go back a page (to the list of topics), and click on the number in the 'replies' column, you'll see a list of members ranked in order of the number of posts they have made IN THIS THREAD.

Keep in mind that the number of posts made may or may not indicate that they are a useful contributor, but it will at least give you an idea of who has been contributing a lot.

They aren't really closing their doors, they have just deemed that the section in which we post all our Rewards Info isn't worthy of bringing into the new year. Peachie, it is not safe to assume that no more prizes will be given away before Monday. Remember that the Fox people do not need to physically be there for a prize to go up. They program their server to put stuff up at precise times (usually the ones I mentioned the other day). I know because I asked Monika a while back. Cindy Lou Hou was the "Grinch" character that the actress who was featured on the show played.

Ha! I finally was the first to post something here! Now I feel special  One more off topic note to you Chargers Fans: I just spoke to the team and was told that only 3,500 tickets remain for the playoff game that should be 1/8/05 (the season ticket holders bought the other 55,000 or so tix). So, if you're willing to spend $85 (cheapest seat now available), they go on sale to the public tomarrow morning at 9 a.m. They will be using a numbered wristband system tomarrow, which eliminates the need to arrive really early. These tix will go quickly. --Ben Dogg :wavey2:
