Wow. Well, I go in from the UPN website versus the Fox channel 6 website - if that makes any difference. I'm not that computer literate so I don't know much about stuff like that.

Just got in...from Fox channel 6 as I normally do, so not sure what was happening...maybe they were doing some kind of maintenance off an on.

I've seen the opposite where th CP site was down but the fox site was up.
Apparently they have three different websites: Fox, UPN, CP
Each is operated differently but the CP site doesn't like to let you in unless you came from one of their "sponsored" sites (Fox/UPN.)
Apparently the Fox site's link was going through some kind of maintenance and not letting you link to the CP site. And apparently the UPN site was not being changed.
Also, a while back when Fox was upgrading the CP site, I think I heard that they run the CP site locally but the Fox site is maintained in TX (maybe with some local control over content.) This may not be correct, but I heard something like that.

Well now, I learned something from the information you shared! Thank you and now if I have problems logging on I will definitely try one of the other sites.

I agree, but I'm betting they have to contact the winner and confirm "eligibility", etc. before they can name them as a winner. If it doesn't happen I would guess they have some way of deciding an alternate winner. Just a guess but it would explain the delay.

One of the biggest problems company's who run sweepstakes and contests face these days is figuring out how long to wait for a reply from people who have been selected. Do they wait 24 hours? 48 hours? What if the person is on a business trip, away on a cruise, etc.
As a result, there are some national sweepstakes running where the judging agency takes really drastic steps. They call the potential winner. If the person is not home (doesn't answer the phone) they leave no message, they just go on to the next potential winner. It is very annoying to those of us who enter sweepstakes, but something we have had to learn to live with.
For many of us, it has led to us forwarding our home phone to our cell phone whenever we leave the house, no matter for how short a time period we plan to be away.

I just checked, it's an option on the "My Information" tab underneath your point summary.
I've suggested previously that it may not be wise to enter these codes unless you have that option turned on. I personally won't enter the code until I receive the email.

UPN, WB to Shut Down; New Network Formed
By SETH SUTEL, AP Business Writer
NEW YORK - Two small, struggling television networks, UPN and WB, will shut down this fall, and their parent companies plan to form a new network called The CW using programming and other assets from each of them.
The announcement was made Tuesday by executives from CBS Corp., which owns UPN, and Warner Bros., a unit of Time Warner Inc., which owns most of WB.
Both UPN and WB had struggled to compete against larger rivals in the broadcast TV business, including Walt Disney Co.'s ABC, News Corp.'s Fox, General Electric Co.'s NBC and CBS Corp.'s CBS.
The new network will launch in the fall, the executives said, when both UPN and WB will shut down. It will be a 50-50 partnership between Warner Bros. and CBS, and the network will be carried on stations owned by the Tribune Co., a minority owner of WB.
Altogether, the 16 Tribune stations and the 12 UPN stations owned by CBS will give the new network coverage in almost half of the country, the executives said. The executives said they hoped to sign up new affiliates in the rest of the country by the time The CW launches.
Among the Tribune's TV stations that will join the new network are its flagship WGN in Chicago as well as WPIX in New York, and KTLA in Los Angeles. The Tribune Co. will relinquish its 22.5 percent stake in WB and will receive a 10-year affiliation agreement with the new network.
Leslie Moonves, chief executive of CBS Corp., said the new network will air 30 hours of programming seven days a week aimed in part at young audiences.
The plan includes two hours of programs in prime time each night Monday through Friday and three hours on Sunday evening. It will also offer programming on weekday and Sunday afternoons, and five hours of children's programs on Saturday morning.
Barry Meyer, the head of Warner Bros., said the network would be run by the current executives of UPN and WB.
The CW will be run by Dawn Ostroff, who will be in charge of programming, and John Maatta will oversee the business side as chief operating officer. Maatta had been COO of WB, and Ostroff was president of UPN.
The new network gets its name from the first letters of its parent's names — C for CBS and W for Warner Bros.

I think their plan is that previously UPN had a channel, and Warner Bros had a channel...in most markets. It is unlikely that they would give up any channels. I think their plan is that they will create 30 hours of programming distruibuted across the two channels...so across and available 48 hours. The other hours of the day will be used to broadcast programming they don't create themselves...maybe like promotionals in the middle of the night.

If it's true that we are here to help others, then what exactly are the others here for?
Definitely to "compete" in obtaining prizes with our hard earned points. Don't you think?:bandit: :bandit: :bandit:
Or maybe, they're here to accept those HELP that we give them willingly otherwise then one of us won't have a purpose here. Do we? :woohoo:

Sometime they give advance warning, sometimes they don't...to me it's pretty much a crap shoot...if you happen to be on and they make them available you get a chance. Even when they announce ahead of time the chances of getting in are slim...you need to be lucky.

:bigmouth: It's almost a "computer-reward " program as opposed to a "viewer reward" program-you have to watch your computer for the freebees.:thumbdown

During the time of Fred Saxon, he always tells the exact time when the movie tickets will be available. Everytime I see him in one of the screenings, I always tell him that we do miss him on Fox in the morning news. He says, he'll be coming back soon with a bang!:bandit: :bandit: :bandit:

Holy carp! That was the most amazing thing I've ever seen happen on the Fox site!
It was there as coming soon, I hit refresh at 9:59:59am and it was gone.
Now, I've seen it where there is the 'buy it now' thingie and I try to buy it and it'll say it's gone, but I've never seen what I saw today.
