Holy carp! That was the most amazing thing I've ever seen happen on the Fox site!
It was there as coming soon, I hit refresh at 9:59:59am and it was gone.
Now, I've seen it where there is the 'buy it now' thingie and I try to buy it and it'll say it's gone, but I've never seen what I saw today.

I just noticed that I have a couple of these certificates left over from a win at a radio remote last year....they are valued at a whopping $1.75 each....sure seems a waste to spend 4000 points for a $1.75 prize.

Well, it's really $1.75 worth of food if you made it yourself, but to have them put it together for you I think $4-5 is about what it'd cost you.

I now see that I was wrong. The certificates I won last year were not each for a $1.75 sandwich, but are cetificates for $1.75 towards a purchase...so bascially I received $3.50 in gift checks.
Sorry for the confusion.

Sounds right.
Fox seems to be pretty good at keeping the value of things at about 1000 pts=$1, except for movie passes for 2000 (probably worth about $18 since it's good for 2) and gulls tickets for 5000 (worth $24)
So 4000 points for Subway sandwich means the sub is valued at about $4, which is consistent with what tailgater said.

But you would probably on average spend at least 1 - 2gallons of gas to get to their office which would cancel equal the value of the prize, a mistake I made last year getting one of the vouchers for free Chick-Fil-A, not knowing that there are only 2 locations in the county, one in Oceanside and the other in Chula Vista, neither of which were even close to me, what a waste!
they could at least offer a voucher for a whole sandwich, come on Fox!

Has anyone else noticed how strange this Forum is lately with recording posts, besides the posted time being off anywhere from 4-8 minutes. I've actually posted, & seen mine posted at a certain time, & then after the fact, there are suddenly others posted showing minutes before mine, & my posting time has changed by a minute or two. Like in the case just now of dogopoly confirming hornytoad, but his is actually showing 2 minutes before that one, even though he must have obviously seen that one before he posted a confirmation of it. What's up???

It was bizarre. I only saw one sports code post so I decided to confirm, then saw mine as the first post...it also seemed that my post was a few minutes before the posted time.
It makes no sense. I can see posts being delayed, even from different locations, but once it posts, new posts should NEVER come before that unless their server clock is screwed up (or maybe somehow taking the local computer time, which would be terrible since I can change my clock any time I want.)

It's got to be something amiss within G/A......it reminds me of that old comedy routine of Abbott & Costello...... "Who's on first?":bonk: :bash: :smash: :banghead:
hornytoad
01-25-2006, 11:46 PM
Yeah, I thought that was strange. I've noticed it's been happening alot lately. Could it be G/A's servers or what?
On a side note, Subway has 6" subs, or a half sub, on sale at $2.99, so that almost equals a gallon of gas, depending on which grade you get for your car.I guess it would be worth it if you were picking up more than one prize. Full size subs go for about $6.00 .
Itsme
01-26-2006, 06:04 AM
Looks like G/A is using a cluster of multiple servers and one of them has the clock off. If a person signs in and enters something on one server, while someone else signing in at the same time gets directed to a different server in the same cluster the later one can end up with an earlier time.

And i always look to see when a party post here and the difference in time.

Sir Anthony Hopkins has been on the entertainment circuit promoting the movie, but if you ask me, I think the advertising & marketing company that is promoting this film has it all wrong. It looks less like a motorcycle movie than a story of the human spirit. A lot of folks are probably thinking this is some sort of Native American movie too! :bump:

Now it gets even crazier. Instead of being in one drug store, I am traveling all around Southern California opening a new store each week, and pretty much living out of hotel rooms. I should make some nice money this year for all my trouble, and I hope to end up working for my company's corporate office someday soon.
Finally, I will be checking in on you kids more frequently when I'm on the road because I will be in hotels with less distractions, that is when I get my laptop back from Gateway. OK Moderator, I know I've wasted enough space here so I'll end this tangent !
