they just steel your mail. do you have a locking mail box and do you shread or burn your credit card aplications.
that is the most common way they do it. it happened to my sister.
they will dig through your trash and fill out a credit card ap. in your name and change the address. you will not even know about it until you do a credit check.

Yup...that's why I shred all of those and statements (etc) that have my card numbers on them...the price of the shredder was worth it and makes great confetti for parties (if you get the cross-cut type.)
