How fast are 802 wireless LANs?

I was just wondering...on a LAN game of a FPS, would the wireless net ppl have noticeably hirer response times?

11 megabits per second, so 1 megabit per second faster than a 10 base network.

actual sustained speeds are 6-7 Mbps
