Mojo-- Duuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuude!
DSL from Ameritech has been available in my area for about a year, but this promo blows all their other ones out of the water.
With ATTBI jacking my broadband service up to $42.95/mo (I own my modem) it's worth the monthly savings despite the lower bandwidth (768 vs 1500) for me to switch.
There is a 30-day satisfaction guarantee, in that if you are not happy with the service you can cancel the (one year) contract with no penalty.
This is the "Speedpath 768" service, as outlined for my area; I am not sure if each product is area-specific: linky (http://www.ameritech.com/DSL_new/content/0,5289,4,00.html?SRC=http%3A%2F%2Fsw51%2Esbc%2Ecom%2Fctrk%2Fp%2Egif%3F&EI=20020624173436C&E=&CI=&UI=&EL=&TI=&RI=&RD=)
Thank you!!! :thumb:

This is SO SWEEEEETT!!! I'm still in disbelief that it is being made available at this price. :D
One note though... I'm a little "concerned" about what they are advertising as "Free dial-up Internet account". I talked to one of their reps asking if this was something being offered if the DSL line were to go down, and she pretty much kept tellin' me that if I go to someone else's place and they have "internet service" that I could log on and check my account.
We debated on this for at least 15 minutes... with me trying to explain that advertising "free dial up" gives the impression that they are also going to give you an "access number" where you can use a standard modem to dial in and connect (like if you had a laptop or something)
Pretty much it is still an awesome deal regardless... but I just don't think that their advertisement of "free dial up" is what it claims to be. she prolly just didn't understand. i'm sure it's just to log in and get your email remotely, and maybe surf some if you're bored enough to do dialup :P

The impression I got was that they are giving you an account with the plain ol' Ameritech.net dialup service along with the DSL account. The idea being that you can use this when you are not near your DSL, as DF said.
Well, I will find out on the 10th when mine gets installed.

Pretty much... it works really good. I haven't noticed much of a difference from being on cable though.
Now I gotta find out if that extra "dial up" account works on my laptop. :hihi: it should, my friend barrows my account to use my dial up access ;)

I use it sometimes, my friends more then me, but yeah, I have used it and NEVER been charges "extra" for that time the dial up is connected ;)

I was happy enough with my cable... but it really SUCKED not being able to connect when I was away from home.
Only problem now is that they only have local numbers for the Indiana, Illinois, Wisconsin, and Iowa area... I just wish they had dial ups nationwide... then it would REALLY be the bomb! :D
I actually have like 6 friends using my account :P
and hmm, about using it in other states.. for instance, if you travel to California, check www.pacbell.net for dialup numbers. Since its all the SBC network, maybe they'll allow you to dialin here? :)
