Dell has been giving MIR's for the 500SC for quite a while now. I was lucky enough to get in when they did the $250 one (which cut the cost in half). I need to dig up the paperwork at home, but I haven't received my check yet and it has been probably at least 2 months (if not more).

Did anyone else order the 500SC w/$250 MIR and get their check yet, or are you guys waiting still too?

I just dug up the paperwork, it says 8-10 weeks to receive the rebate. I mailed it back on March 20th. It has been 14 weeks now and my thing doesn't even say it has been mailed to me! (But they have been "processing" it for the last 14 weeks.)

I'll wait to hear back from them (filled out the online form via rebatestatus.com), if they don't reply within a couple days I'll start calling. Every day... hourly if I have to... (it's been slow at work.. hehe...)

I can't believe it... I just looked up the info on rebatestatus.com and it said they mailed the rebate on 7/15 (of course today is 7/23 and I still haven't gotten it). But there might actually be the slim change I will be getting my $250 MIR from Dell after all!

Anyone else received theirs yet?

thats one reason i hate buying things with such large rebates. my parents bought an hp printer & camera for a 100.00 rebate that never came. hp said they didnt include the original slip that detailed the rebate, instead they sent in the rebate reciept from the store.

I mailed rebate in on: March 20, 2002
Today is (with no rebate): August, 2, 2002

They *say* it was mailed off on July 15th. I've called previous times to get the status, and they (for some reason) verified my address with me, but this last time they *somehow* didn't have the apartment number in their records, even though I have verified it was correct before, and I have a copy of my rebate form that is printed clearly with the proper address...

The lady said they could cancel the current check and re-issue one, but it would take 8-10 weeks (which I think it might take a bit more considering how slow their first one is taking)... I'm going to call Monday afternoon next week and speak to a manager and if they can't re-issue me a check in less time, I think I am going to have to talk to my lawyer. At the rate they are going, it would be 2003 before I would probably get it...

I'm wondering if anyone else is getting the run around and feel like they are getting screwed out of their rebate. If so, I *think* this could be grounds for a class action lawsuit...

I mailed in my $250 rebate in the beginning of April and still didn't receive anything in the middle of June. I called up Dell's so-called Rebate Center which is actually just a seperate company hired by Dell to handle their rebates. They told me that they never even received it and that I would have to fax them a copy of the invoice. It was also mentioned that if it was after a certain period of time from the rebate close date - they wouldn't be able to reprocess it.

Off to Dell Customer Care...

Since it was over 30 days from the purchase, the invoice was in the warehouse and that it would take about 20 - 30 days to pull it out and then send me a copy. After dealing with the representative who seemed better suited for the fast food industry, I asked for a supervisor to help push my request through. The most annoying part was that it took about 15 minutes to do this and every 3 minutes (because of the corp. policy), the McDonald's bound representative would come back and apologize. Persuasion to have her tell me something useful such as sports scores subsequently failed.

Eventually I reached the manager who told me only the same thing and that I was pretty much stuck. As a final request I asked them to verify that I did place the order, which they did easily - and then had them call the rebate center and to see if they could push it through. This was met with no success.

To my surprise though, two weeks later I received a check from Dell for $250 - surprisingly enough...dated from the same day I called and raised hell.

My conclusion is that some of Dell's rebate programs (including this one) have been terribly mismanaged resulting in lost and delayed filings. With the comments I've read - it seems that this is a common occurance and met only with a template reply from customer reps. If you raise hell, and continue to do so - it all works well.

They "never got" my rebate for my Dimension 4400 for $100. I had to fax them all the information. They say it is in the system now and they can give me a check number, but can't tell me when it is going to be sent. Maybe I should schedule to have UPS or Fedex pick it up for me if they are having so much trouble getting it in the mail :P
