Users are urged to update their anti-virus protection and to be mindful of the risk of infection that can occasionally come with using file sharing services, which seem to be becoming a target for virus writers
Masters of the friggin obvious

kazaa seems to be thge best way to spread a virus. Last summer there was a big deal about how it only recognizes .mp3 from .mp3.vbs They kinda ignored anything after the third character after the period.
I dont know if this is fixed or not, but that is the reason I tell people to avoid it and use limewire or something similar.
i dunno. mine seems to filter out the .mp3.vbs files

last nite i had the pleasure of receiving the nimda virus. I updated my version of Kazaa lite and went out to dinner. when i came back around 10pm, a bunch .eml files called "Shortcut to hb3" or something like that was somehow placed in the Documents and Settings directory. Luckily, Anti-Virus caught it, and i was able to delete after some fussing.
Dammit, i need a router! and quick! I hate having software-based firewall.

I'm not too surprised by it. Likely to happen with file sharing.

i guess those of us who are "sharing" on these P2P networks can't really complain now can we..? afterall, we are kind of doing something that is a :nono: and well, viruses are an inherant risk of such an activity.. but then again, u can contract viruses from anywhere.. oh well. be safe kids, use protection! :)
