who's going? i know there arent a whole lot of chicagoans here, but im asking anyway. im probably not going cuz almost everyone i know is busy until the 4th and i could probably do without all the greasy, fatty, deep fried food :munch: but its soooooooo tempting . gotta get the staples: turkey leg, corn on the cob, deep dish pizza and cheesecake :love2: (i didnt forget anything, did i?) and theres still some more good stuff to get :P.

Oh Man do i envy you. Every so often i'll have Lou Malnatis UPS some of their delicious frozen pizzas out here for just a taste. Not the same but beats anything you could find out here in California.

Thanks. :) its in grant park. its bordered by michigan ave on the west, lake shore dr on the east, i think monroe on the north and balbo on the south. parking will be hard, and for the 3rd and 4th damn near impossible. i would park a little bit away and take public transportation or a free city trolly. check out the faq page on the taste web site.

Cool Thanks. Just checked it out. Actually, saw it by accident while looking for the fireworks display (also grant park). Are you going to the fireworks display?

I've been down to the taste a couple of times. But I don't have much of a desire to go. Most of the stuff you can get in better condition in a restaurant (without having to fight the crowds, heat, etc.) at a cheaper cost. I mean, you can get deep dish pizza, corn on the cob, egg rolls, cheesecake, etc., any time you want (and freshly cooked where appropriate).
I'm glad to see that they are adding (or rather, returning to) the idea of some interesting "tastes" of a greater variety. That's what the Taste was supposed to be when it was started (I think Rich Melman was a big force behind it).

i *just* got home from the fireworks show, i finally got to the taste around 7:30 after hours of traffic. we got some grub...bbq rib and bbq chicken sand-miches, some corn, some cherries...a turkey leg...hahaha
finally we luckily found a great spot by the lake shore to catch the fireworks display. it was really entertaining to say the least. the walk back to the car was entertaining too.
afterwards we went to mario's on taylor by uic to get some good ole lemonade (or water-ice as we call it)...fun night...

Man... what a coincidence. My friend and I was also right next to the lake to catch the fireworks display. We then also went back to UIC (my friend is taking classes at Rush and lives in the UIC dorm) to grab some chow. Unfortunately, neither of us knew of any places to eat that were open, so after driving around for a while, we gave up and stopped off at the Jewel Osco and grabbed some stuff to make sandwiches. :D

OMG, you have no where to go? geez, greektown is always a good back up. go to jackson and halsted...right there at that corner there's three greek resterants taht are open 24-7, so anytime of the day you can nab some grub. if you have a car, go down by 26th st and try ricobene's, get a breaded steak sandwich, good stuff. there's a lot of crap open late night, u just gotta know where to find em
