Does this look like a scam to you?

"We gladly accept BANK WIRE TRANSFERRING FUNDS"

his last auction (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1838441449) had the same text in the item description and the buyer (with 12 fb) said, "Item exactly as described. Fast shipping. Recommended seller. A++ Thanks." Looks ok to me.

Yeah, but look at the last time he ahd feedback before that. And look at the feedback of the buyer. Neither of them have had feedback in over a year.

Send them an e-mail & find out where they do business & what their phone number is. If they're legit they'll be open & helpful. Watch out if they're evasive or unwilling to give out any info.

Bank Wiring Funds is ok-and quite safe-banks keep EXTENSIVE records and even if it was bogus you'd have the bank on your side. The guy has good feedback-sounds legit to me.

I would be a little more concerned about this term:

"PLEASE ADD $95.00 TO THE FINAL BID"

What the heck is that for? It's not for shipping, you pay for that in addition.

I don't know if it's a scam, but I'd stay away from this guy.

I think the $95.00 is for shipping. The last time I bought some rims, the shipping was around the same price.

Typically with high ticket items, when something seems too good to be true, it usually isn't. Those rims cost $1,000 EACH according to this place (http://www.gmpperformance.com/products/wheels_tires/wheels/brabus.htm). A set of USED (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1832946583) Monoblock IV 3-piece rims with dents and scuff marks went for $1325.00.

It seems curious that both the buyer from the previous auction and that seller disappeared from eBay about the same time and then reappeared on eBay for that transaction right about the same time.

It also seems curious that the buyer from the previous transaction changed his/her screen name within the last 30 days.

My opinion (for what it's worth)? Buyer beware! I wouldn't bid on those if I were you. If you do, inist on using an escrow service and don't let the seller talk you out of it.

That's my opinion exactly. A year or so ago, I bid on a set of 19" Brabus V wheels and paid around $2k for them. I paid w/ paypal, but the seller turned out to be fraudulent. Fortunately, Citibank sided with me so I was okay. But that seller tried to sell some high end notebook computers as well and screwed some people out of the country that had no recourse. Geez... Why can't we trust people?

Yeah it hurts my eyes on both my flat panel AND my CRT. :) I ended up highlighting the text to read it.

According to this MSNBC article from today, apparently you should be careful with escrow services too. Sneaky!

http://www.msnbc.com/news/775457.asp

Definitely do some research on any company like this you work with. If the seller tries to force you into using their service choice instead of your own, something is probably fishy.

If a sale seems fishy to you, than I would avoid buying anything from that person.
