View Full Version : PC Locks on webpages that use Flash Player..?

Whenever I go to a webpage that has Flash content, the PC will totally lock (can't even move the mouse pointer) and I'll have to reset. An example is www.visiontek.com... If I go there, I'll freeze at their page before it even finishes loading.

My system:

-Windows 2000 with SP2 installed, all security patches & running IE6
-AMD Athlon 700MHz CPU
-EPoX 7KXA Motherboard (VIA KX133 chipset), 384MB RAM installed, latest available BIOS (07/25/2000, I think)
-Latest VIA 4-in-1 drivers installed (4.40)
-Latest nVidia Detonator drivers installed (29.42)
-DirectX 8.1 installed
-Visiontek GeForce 3 ti200
-Soundblaster Live!
-Netgear FA310TX NIC

At this point, it's a clean install of Win2k, I had resolved this issue previously by installing a WAYYYY older set of Detonator drivers (I think it was 27.42, but it could have been all the way back to like 22.50 or 22.80...) and assumed the problem was an older, cluttered install of Win2k. However, it's exhibiting the same behavior after my nice clean format/install. Everything else runs great... I just reinstalled Neverwinter Nights and played without a hitch for a few hours last night.

If anyone has any suggestions, I'd love to hear from you! And yes, I plan to upgrade everything soon anyway. :P

Have you tried reloading the flash player? (http://www.macromedia.com/shockwave/download/index.cgi?P1_Prod_Version=ShockwaveFlash)

I shall try it..! :D

Edit:

No luck... Does it with Flash 5 and Flash 6, and regardless of what color mode I'm in, too, BTW. So far the solution is to not have Flash installed :D
