Hello everyone, I'm new to these forums and just put together my first pc last week. I went with the xp2100+ and then started doing a little research on unlocking it and it appears that its the only xp (besides the new thoroughbred) that cant simply have the bridges connected to be unlocked, I found this article.... http://www.pcstats.com/articleview.cfm?articleID=1009 on how some guys unlocked their xp2100 , and was curious if anyone has any other methods or ideas for unlocking it.
My second question....... this one may sound dumb but it's really bothering me..... I purchased the oem toshiba 16x (48x cd read) dvd rom drive and it wont go into DMA mode, I have it set in my device manager to use dma if available but it always shows up as PIO and when I rip dvd's to my harddrive it goes at about 2x and when I use nero CD speed to see how it performs against my digital research 40x12x48 drive, it constantly reads at 20x, never goes any higher or lower. I've tried switching ide cables, right now its alone on an ata 133 cable, so that shouldn't be the problem....if anyone could possibly help me out that would be great, thanks.
