im gonna wait a month or two. I have a hunch that in a little while the stores (like gogamer) will have tons of these titles on their hands and will heavily discount them. Until then, jedi and morrowind... :)

I've never heard of gogamer.com before. I really don't think that this site is a risk unless your an idiot and send a money order or do paypal. You'll save $4 at Purplus too.

I've ordered from gogamer.com. It used to be called compuexpert.com. Good service.

I thought with the smaller box size computer game prices would be coming down. :dodgy:

Used to be with a little digging you could find a good price on new games. Not anymore.
Beast Buy and Compusa haven't been putting these games on sale. Morrowind, Neverwinter Nights and now Warcraft III.

Cantacuzene did say in another thread (http://www.gotapex.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&postid=385302#post385302) the game industry was trying to make these higher prices standard.

With the years of development spent by Blizzard on this title, I don't think $60 is too hefty of a price tag. I think the game has proven to be well worth the wait and the time spent by Blizzard on the game should be rewarded.

It's a shame that the same cannot be said of the years spent developing Daikatana.

but damn!! i cant believe a game will cost an upwards of $60!! is it really worth the price tag? whats worse is that its going to go down in a couple of months, with a patch to fix whatever bugs that are in it with the release... i agree 60 bucks is way too much for a game, 50 is too much. personally, if they cut prices down to 25, id probably buy 4 or 5 times more games.
just my .02

Good point there. The affordability of new releases would probaly also decrease piracy.

I guess this deal would be for those who need their game now.

i got mine for $35-$40 from staples B&M....i'm sur eyou can do it for online purchases too. I printed out an ad from LiveWareHouse.com (http://store.yahoo.com/livewarehouse/wariiireigof.html) They advertise for $39.99

So I Pricematched 2 Warcraft IIIs for 39.99 each and applied a 10 off 50 dollars or more coupon (i'm sure you can find this somewhere...=)...yeah) so total was $80-10 = $70 plus tax = ~$75 / 2 games = ~$37 bucks per copy

The reason is because of Warez Monkeys like Cantacuzene

Scroll down to Cantacuzene's 1st post (http://gotapex.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=45840)

Then scroll down to his next post where he justifies it. It's like saying I paid my taxes the last 3 years, I think my income this year should be tax free.

Think about how many hours that you will spend playing that game and divide that by the cost. My guess is that by the end most of you will spend well over 200 hours playing it. At 50 bucks thats 25 cents an hour. Stop your damn whining. Good luck finding some other way to have fun for 25 cents an hour.

Just checked out gamespot's gamebuyer. dargon.ca (Canadian store) has Warcraft 3 in a DVD-size case for $39.95 with $5.45 priority mail shipping.

That's by far the best non-pricematching deal I have seen.

I found it for 40 at http://www.simso.com. Shipping was 6 bucks but I bought another copy to split that. I ordered it on a Monday morning, and I got it Tuesday afternoon. There wasn't any fancy packaging tho, just the dvd box. Oh yeah, and my friend ordered from dragon.ca during presale and he still hasn't got his order.

GoGamer (used to be CompuExpert) has it for $34.90 + shipping, which I believe is $5.99 for FedEx 2 day.

This is probably as cheap as you will find for quite some time.

Well I'm "the friend," and I'm here to tell you of my experience with www.dragon.ca

I first ordered a copy of Diablo II from Dragon.ca two years ago. I remember that it was a good price, but I can't remember how long it took to arrive. It was not a pre-order. One thing to note, it was not shipped in the retail box. It was only the software and the documentation included in the box. Dragon.ca says that it's cheaper to ship this way.

And now we flash forward to 2002...

Dragon.ca had two Warcraft III pre-order deals going. You could either order the retail box, and it would ship as soon as it was released, or you could save $6 CAD ($3.91 US) and order the game packaged in a DVD case, which would ship a few days later. I opted to save a few bucks and pre-order the cheaper version. I also paid a few cents extra for air mail shipping. Ground shipping could take up to 18 business days. The price increase was negligible, one Canadian dollar, which is about 65 US cents.

On July 1st, I received an email from their shipping department. It said "Your order for the above title(s) has been pre-processed and will be
shipped via Air Mail July 05/02."

Even though Warcraft III was released on July 3, they said they wouldn't ship it until the 5th. I expected this because they explained that the cheaper version would ship later.

Their air mail shipping takes 2-9 business days to the US. (They're based in Ontario.) This does not include the day the game was shipped. So by my calculations, I should receive it by Thursday, July 18 at the latest. It is currently Saturday, July 13, and I have still not received my pre-order. The next chance for it to arrive is Monday, July 15.

A warning: the Canadian dollar to US dollar conversions on Dragon.ca's site are not accurate. The Canadian dollar is stronger than how it is conveyed on the site. This means that the "approximate US prices" that they have advertised on the site are wrong. Those prices should be higher. Take the Canadian prices that they advertise, and use the Universal Currency Converter ( http://www.xe.com/ucc/ ) to see the true price. I ended up paying over 51 US dollars, including air mail shipping.

Here's another warning: Dragon.ca does not have any order tracking. If you don't receive the package within the estimated time frame, you can complain to Dragon.ca and then they will forward the complaint to Canada Post who will initiate a trace. I currently have no idea where my order is.

ANOTHER warning: During checkout, I selected the shipping option that said "To USA: Express (US Priority 2-5 days)." However, on their tracking page ( http://www.dragon.ca/contact/tracking.htm ) they explain that air mail to the USA takes 2-9 business days.

Do yourself a favor and just order from www.gogamer.com It's only $34.90 for a few more hours. This is an incredible deal, but it won't last long.

I'll probably be one of the last group of people to receive a Warcraft III pre-order.

One final piece of advice. Always check with http://resellerratings.com/ when you're buying from an online store.

You can check out what others have to say about Dragon.ca here at http://resellerratings.com/seller892.html

Wow! I'm sorry MrPork.... I didn't realize that this was a bad company to deal with! I had remember somebody from another site was looking for WIII and posted their price, so I thought I'd pass it along. I had no idea they were a bad company. I'm sorry about that.

Thank you for sharing the www.resellerratings.com site---I've never heard of it before. I'll bookmark it and be sure to use it from now on before I make any more bad posts!

Thanks....

I knew it. It's been out for less than two weeks, and already its on sale. If the prices on Jedi and Renegade are any indication, the price will drop even further in another two weeks.

Ive gotten some of the "hot" games for around $30 US at B&M stores. Most stores usually drop the price of a popular game in the 1st couple of weeks to help bring in customers. Hopefully this coming week will have a good sale for WC3 in some B&M store near me.

At Frys I got JK2 for $31, Dark age of Camelot for $20, Dungeon Siege for $30, RTCW for $30(?) at CC, etc.
