I went to SF metrion(sp?) a few days ago...I saw that sony had a MD player/dirve thing in the computer...I was wondering where I can find such a thing...I want to record and I want to record things fast...instead of my 1x recording. I know they have 32x ones out...but I want to do it from the bay of my computer instead of buying another MD player to record at 32x!! Can anybody help?

oh wow, I didn't know they had such things, I knew it wouldn't be too hard to implement and I always thought that it should be done. Some please have the answer:D

I do know that Sony released a PC-bay. However, they were extremely slow, small capacity, and VERY expensive. It think of you go to www.minidisc.org or something like that they have it listed there.

i have a sony mindisk player. love it to death. its the sports one that came out this year. have 5 diff cds on it and i have been using it nonstop for 2 months and the battery is only at half which is nice. my old mp3 player held 15 songs. wow...15 lol :) minidisk is better for music defenitly and the players arent bulky or anything they have very smooth curves

i remembered one i saw in crutchfield a couple of years ago, but its pretty hard to find. even doing a search on sony.com didnt pull anything up. then i remebered a stack of old crutchfield catalogs i have and i found it. the Sony MDS-PC2 lets you copy directly from cd, type in titles with your keyboard, create mixes directly from your sony cd changer. all for the low low price of $399 IF you can find one.

ive also seen a few sony desktops, notebooks and laptops with built in minidisc drives. chances are that a minidisc drive would cost as much as a new netmd compatable player.

Yeah...That new netMD player is the one I that I saw that records at 32x, but I don't want to spend another 200 some odd bucks to buy another MD player that I alrealdy have. I want it for computer so that I can do some recording and labeling while I'm at it...instead of using the MD player to type everything. And I can't seem to find anywhere that had MD recorders/player/anything for the computer bays. And that sony one...I have no idea if it record faster than 1x i wonder if it goes faster.

I bought a Sony Mz-N707 a couple while back, it has NetMD and hooks up to the comp with a USB cable. You can either label your songs and groups using the little control stick, or use the Sony OpenMG software to label them.

My only gripe about Open MG is the anti-pirace feature they have where you have to do the whole "check-in check-out" thing with your songs. Other than that, I love my minidisc player.

Yeah...I know that they have the new netMD players out...I just wanted to know if they have a MD "burner" for the computer, instead of just buying a whole new MD when mine is working just fine!

I think they only come in sony vaios... sony always wanna make themselves feel special. But come to think about it though, if you really really want to put the effort into it, you could probably mod a minidisc player into your computer.

Okey...So I just wrote sony like 4 or 5 dayz ago, and they just wrote me back. I wrote them about, if they had a MD drive for the bays of computers. Freaking Sony said they only come with Viaos and nothing else...they don't sell them seperate from the computers!! CRAP...the ones that they have in the computer are the new netMD type that record at 32x. AND THEY DON'T SELL THEM SEPERATE!!! I hate them with a passion! They would make bank if they sold them seperate!!! CRAP...sorry...just wanted to get my aggression out. Anybody have any luck with finding another MD bay for the computer? I didn't!!

yeah sony sucks as far as thier proprietary stuff goes. i mean how long have memory sticks been out and only now are other manufacturers allowed to use this format. i dont get thier business strategy. mem sticks could have been huge by now, but since only sony was allowed to use it, not too many people would want to use it. i remember the same situation applied to MD. for a long time sony wouldnt allow any other manufacturers to use the minidisc format and now its almost nonexistant.
