I didn't think much of it at first, but everobody that has come in contact with my PC has one common gripe...IT'S LOUD.
ok, ok, I admit it could be sort of anoying, but maybe it's supposed to be this loud. I've determined that the culprit is mr volcano 7, whether he's at 3,000 rpms or 5,000 rpms it's quite noisy. Does anybody else have a volcano 7 or know of it to be loud? Recommendations on different HSF's would be great too, I picked the volcano 7 over the volcano 6 because I wanted to keep that chip cool (if you've read any of my other posts, it hasnt been too successful), in fact there's a possibility that the HSF could be a volcano 6 (even though I paid for a volcano 7 it was a barebones and came put on already and it just says Tt for thermaltake on it). Is there any way to quiet down the fan (make like a muffler of some sort?), putting the sides on helped a little bit but not enough. What hs's do you guys use and what do you think of them?

for the volcano 7, u can just unscrew the 4 screws and put a quieter fan if u want to, just remember to put one that has the same or higher speed so it'll run just as cool still

you guys are the greatest... .... a fan adapter sounds like the way to go, do any of you guys know anything about "Sunon" fans, they have a 92mm one for 8.99 over at http://www.hardcorecooling.com/index.htm?catalog.htm&1
although their fan adapter seems kind of steep, they look cool.

Sunon fans are decent. If you want something more quiet, go with Panaflo or Pabst.

A friend had to replace the climate control in his bimmer and when he took it out we found a Pabst fan in there. It wasn't very big fan nor did it move alot of air, but it wasn't audible at all. If you did'nt look at it you would'nt even know it was on. Anyone know where to get some of these? I would love a few in my case.

good call mpowered.....I'd like to know where to find some of those too, the only site that I know of that had fan adapters was hardcorecooling, would you guys think 80mm would be big enough to be quiet and blow some good air?

I have a Volcano 7. Yes, the stock fan on it is very noisy. I put the case on the carpet, and now it's a lot better. :)
