Good question. They just started puttin those on this year, and I haven't quite figured it out. I think it's based on whether or not the teacher likes us.
Employability Assessment Grade
In 1998 the Kent School District Academic Standards Commission established twenty-two Academic Standards to increase student achievement and prepare them for success in the 21st century. One of the goals from the Academic Standards Commission was to have students assessed on performance standards that define work and life skills. This was a result of employers in the Kent area recommending students are educated on attitudinal and behavioral skills needed for success in today's global workplace. The Kent School District has developed an "Employability and Life Skills Assessment" where students will be assessed by their teachers on work habits and attitudes, cooperation, commitment to quality, quantity of work, and attendance and punctuality. Beginning with the 2000-2001 school year, students will receive an "employability grade" as a part of the comments section for each of their classes.

emp. skills are as follows im pretty sure been about a month outta school and i forgot how to write:
be in school
be prepared,
includes pen pencil calc book notebook and anything needed for class
be attentive
participate
homework
based out of 100 % (duh) for the day and the week
about 20 % of our quarterly grade
it sorta sucks but ive gotton used to it, although i am never very employable
side note: IM NOW A SENIOR!!! i didnt think i was gonna do it and my mom wanted me to drop out, but i worked at it and with the help of my gf up my ass all the time i passed barly, hold the applause, please :D ;)
edit: u posted that while i was posting!!! well thats the weak way of doing emp skills!!!! im not sure of many schools but mine (vocational school) factors it into our grades, ive seen many people fail for employability skills!

Sounds like it measures how easily oppressed by the man you are. Higher score = more easily cowed

I had number grades...
letter grades w/o +/- is awesome....
come home with a B, I could've said....I had an 89, and the teacher wouldn't help me out! (yeah, anything less than an A in my house was BAD)

I always thought....
be in school
kiss butt
includes buying them coffee, cleaning out the lab stuff after school, inviting them to concerts, letting them borrow your clothes, moving in with them, doin a little circle jack with them. etc etc etc......yes, these are all things that happened in my hs.

I would feel so bad if my employability grade was like F. Doesn't that mean I'm a loser and homeless soon. That's not much of an ego booster...I mean it's bad enough I might have failed a few classes but then I get insulted and kicked when I'm down with this employability grade that says I may not be good enough to work at the golden arches???
Whatever happened to new age teaching and new math where 1+1=2 with a follow up question of "How does that make you feel?"
Well...I graduated HS in '94 so it really doesn't matter to me but I'd feel sorry for all those shy sensitive types who might struggle in class and then get told you're dumb as a brick and might have to live off their parents for all their life.
Sigh
