i read about these last week. Vacuum tubes create better sounding audio. They decided to introduce a product that mimicked the audio quality created by a tube amp.

i wonder if the tubes are changable. They must be, since they have a higher failrate than that of a transistor. What kind of costs would be associated with a new tube for it as well?

Usually they do, I have a friend going nuts over this thing. He thinks its the greatest thing since the hamburger sized pickle slices.

I've got an all tube amp and that thing roasts! Imagine the ambient temperature in your case...

That's neat and all but I ain't buying it. My "transistor-ized" motherboard sounds pretty darn good.

haha, just reading the title, I thought that it was to vacuum the dust off your mobo

anyways...that's cool, i guess you can't really fit that on a soundcard, unless you take up a couple pci slots...

Heh, thats what I said also, and I have hear some REALLY nice receivers (2500 buck Onkyo) and some sunfires.

Then I heard a tube amp, and it blew me away. They dont produce the wattage NUMBERS that transistors "put out" but man, they are damn powerful and they sound so much better.

I'll take the 6-channel off my board over any tube, any day.

i myself prefer the sound of a tube amp. If you have ever played on a transistor driven amp or a tube amp, you will hear the difference. the same will apply to the computer world. The only downfall is you will need some heavy duty cooling on that thing.

You've all got it all wrong. The vacuum tube is to make the motherboard EMP resistant.

:heh:

I'd take digital amplification over the coloration and hassle of tube any day. ;)

I have a 35 year old Fender Deluxe Reverb Amp which has tubes. I will have to check to see if the sound is warmer or not.

dont tubes light up, if they do it might look cool in a window. but id rather hook up my sound card to a external amp than an internal one. like others said, it would get hot and could fail which would make the thing pretty lousy for a computer.

Well, I guess I could just take apart my grandmother's Ham radio, if I needed replacement parts...
