i was lookin into buy a dvd player and tv for my new apartment. I dont need anything really great like a hdtv or anything. I just want something good enough for watching tv and movies and things like that. I wont be getting a home entertainment system or anything like that either. I want something that has a good brand name also, so I dont have to worry about it too much. I was lookin for a 25-27 inch tv, flat screen. I dont really know anything about dvd players, so what do you guys recommend for either? All I know is that progressive scan is supposedly better. Any advice would be helpful. I should probably put a price range but I dont really know what this stuff goes for. Lets just say in the medium price range, i dont want crappy stuff, but i wont be using it so much that i want to spend alot. Thanks alot.

you really need to tell us what YOU are willing to spend. if you only say medium price range, Apex might just find a $30,000 tv and a $5,000 dvd player :P

haha true, ok lets see. probably 300-500 on the tv and 200 on the dvd player. these are just guesses i dont really know.
Well, for the DVD player, the Panasonic RP82 is coming out soon, and should be very close to the $200 level. It is 1 step above the RP62 (the successor of the RP56), and should have excellent deinterlacing (DCDi by Faroudja), DVD-A capabilities, Coax and Optical digital outputs, and (rumored) great decoding as well.

For the TV, I'd say either get a Panasonic Tau:

Or a Toshiba AF series:

You can get either in a 27" flatscreen for about $400 or so. Unfortunately, I don't know any 32" that are flat and under $500.
