Hi! I'm planning to get a Creative Audigy card, but I'm confuse with all those mp3+, x-Gamer, Platinum, and so on. I'm only looking for the card. I don't need the drive that's witht the Platinu & Platinum eX. Are all those packing the same card? or is there actually difference on the card? @@ If they are all the same card why do mp3+ and x-Gamer? @@

Thanx for Help :)

the difference between the mp3+ and gamer is just the software package that comes with it. Other than that its the same card. If you just want the card you can find a better deal buying it OEM (White Box).

LOL! Think about that....a gold plated sound card! :) That would look really cool!

The platinum has a box you can put in one of your 5 1/4 bays in your comp and the platinum ex has an external box that has the same connections the regular platnium has. Also, I think the platinum and platinum ex has all the software that both the mp3+ and x-gamer have.

Hope this helps!

Thanks for the Inputs guys :)

I just needed to check that all of them are the same card. ^^ man, Creative really knows how to rip people off with all those fancy wording and packings. ~~

As hapoo said all I need is the card, so OEM would probably get me the lowest price (around $70 or lower). I'll just download latest driver for my OS off Creative's site that's all. ^^

Thanx again, guys.

There is no difference in the hardware of the cards except for the gold plated connectors on the platinum named cards.

But yeah...an OEM Audigy would do you just fine!

grrr!!!!! I hate how they do drivers! All of them require the origional cd! half of their cd's will say, "sorry this is intended for win9x only" if your running 2000 or xp.... even though there are 2000/xp drivers for it. I think the only way for it to work was have 9x installed, install the driver then upgrade. is that viable? NO! So I have to work around each and every single thing to get it to work!

Bastards.

Why don't they just release drivers that don't require the origional installed? I mean all they do is uninstall the driver before they install the new one!

Whores.

I plan to fresh install my OS (WinXP) as I know Creative's driver are tricky (not to mention the jumbo software package on the cd)

Once I install the driver from CD, I'll install the latest driver from Creative's site. Hope that'll do the job to fix all the gliches the old driver had.

I did a fresh install of my OS, and Creative's drivers from the CD. Still didn't run well, on XP. However, I think it did install fine on 2000.
