Hi,
Back in Feb I ordered an entertainment center from furniture.com, and got a great deal. Only they've delayed me twice already, now they say the manufacturer still does not have the pine needed. I already bought the coffee table/end tables and have been waiting forever for the entertainment center (solid pine-got it for $500 - for that price I should'a known) and they call me today only to say it wont be ready till at least September! Anyone know any good (inexpensive) web links for this kind of stuff? Thanks
man. usually people get screwed ON furniture, not BY it.. http://www.gotapex.com/ubb/smile.gif

great english aj your spelling is perfect http://www.gotapex.com/ubb/smile.gif
Furniture.com's the only game in webtown. But don't feel too bad, furniture stores, unless you're buying the actual item in the store, often have massive delays. You probably have just as good a shot of being delayed for months in a regular store.

What about furniturefind.com? I may even have some coupon codes laying around for them. Email me if you need 'em.

I also bought an entertainment center from furniture.com that should have been delivered about a month ago. I sent them an email when it was due to arrive, and they said the end of June. I sent them an email at the end of June, with several follow-ups, and they have not even responded.
I also got a great price on it, and I understand the delays in the furniture business, but I think their non-response to my emails is a serious problem for them. I know I could call them, but I refuse to do so on an internet purchase.
So, have caution when you order from them. They have even been written up in the Chicago Sun Times for their shoddy customer service.

Furniture.com was one of the many dotcoms written up as being on the brink of going out of business, but they recently found another source of funding so that they could stay open longer.

I hear ya on not wanting to call, actually the number is constantly busy so I wouldnt even bother, although you CAN get through on their sales number and the reps there can look up some information, but I wouldnt depend on what they say as they told me two weeks ago that the item was shipped. I went locally yesterday and really didnt see anything decently priced for the quality that I know furniture.com has ( i purchased a maple bedroom set from them with no problems last year). Also, I sent them an email too with no response. They're customer service is bad but I guess you will get that anywhere. Thanks for all your input guys!

i agree with ya Jeepers, and Kaper cant spell, but youre setting yourself up for getting yelled at by commenting of the spelling of the post considering the content http://www.gotapex.com/ubb/smile.gif catch 22 http://www.gotapex.com/ubb/tongue.gif
its not "ironic", but i dont know a good term to describe that kind of situation...any english majors?
So furniture.com's service is horrible? That goes against a forbes article a while ago, but I guess if your funding is thin, then things change.
Good to know, since I was thinking of getting a couch from them.
But in addition to poor customer service, do they ever not deliver?

I had ordered a lawyerbookcase back in January and didn't receive until the end of June. When I placed the order I was told it would take 4-6 weeks but ended up being 6 months, they sent me some furniture polish and gave me 10% off. They also charged $25 for an extended warranty I never I asked for so check you credit card statements.
I also recommend calling their customer service number 1-800-442-3525 and work your way up the chain, I spoke with Cathy the service manager and she seemed to help my order along after about 20 calls saying it will be ready next week. She may no longer work there because they layed off a few people check out http://www.****edcompany.com/.
I heard they did it by having people go to their desk and wait for a phone call. I wonder if they made them wait on hold for about an hour and listen to that crappy muzac...
Here is a list of contact names I dealt with:
Andrew Brooks
Xt 6807
CEO, Furniture.com
[email protected]
Company Management Rose Mauriello
Vice President Sales and Customer Care
Cell phone 617-901-2690
Karen Mahoney
508-416-6492
Customer Service Contact Donna Blake
Customer Care Manager Phone: 800-442-3525

Good Luck....

That is excellent information Sandman, thanks. I've decided, after searching locally and on the web, that the best thing to do here is wait till September... but if things dont happen BY SEPTEMBER 1st I may write a letter to the CEO to see if that helps. I mean, it probably isnt their fault this is happening, unless they're lying when they said that the manufacturer doesnt have thd supplies to complete their job. It just seems that I have gotten bad information and poor service since the first delay. Hopefully in September I can report back that I have a great new entertainment center!!
