Ladies, what meds (if any) do you take for cramping and bloating?

I'm SOOOO tired of that this month! Normally, the bloating happens before my period, but not this time. blah.

Basically i'm always trying stuff but most of the time ibuprofen works pretty good (well if you take enough of any of the meds it usually works) I'd have to agree with you i'm just about sick of it this month too. :(

Ingest enough Calsium and Potassium piror to the initial period will reduce muscle contraction and promote sodium digestion from your daily diet. Usually Yogert is a great natural supplement for muscle relaxation. (start taking at least a cup of Yogert, Dannon is good, 5 days before the period will help.)

Oh, I am definitely NOT a female.

Midol works for me and I only need to take one tablet
for that month. Taking a tablet once a month doesn't hurt.
Another way to remedy the problem is drink a little alcohol to
get your blood running in ur system. I think the pain is caused
by blood that is clogged. It works for me so try it out.:)

Naproxen, Prozac and a vitamin for joints (glycer-something or other) :)

Works for me :P

I take advil for the cramps, and I stay away from salty foods. Hate that water retention. :P

trying doing crunches...it helps a lil bit

I usually take 800mg Motrin and curl up under a bunch of blankets and cry once a month (I have a low tolerance to cold when I'm on "it").

The crunches do help some, too.

I use Motrin for the pain as well, but take smaller doses. I swear, Motrin is the best pain reliever!

I unfortunately get bloated too, and I usually just suffer through it. I try to eat well during my period and stay away from spicy foods. Also, get enough sleep! And stay away from those things we call men, they get extra annoying and I swear it makes my periods worse. Heh. :P

I get lower back pains as well. And again, I take Motrin for all pain and it works. Very powerful stuff.

I was feeling really gassy & bloated today (I know, I know, you all wanted to know that...). Anyway, we were about to drive 6 hours (3 there, 3 back) to meet my dad halfway so my son could spend 3 or 4 days with my parents. I was NOT looking forward to the trip.

My hubby went to the store and bought some Gas-X. I took 1 a few minutes before we left and then again during the trip after dinner, and I felt incredible! SOOOOO much better!

Wow! My account is still active. How are you doing, Jenny?
Kinda funny how you posted this thread. I usually have a hard time with my period also. BC pills usually help alleviate any cramping and bloating. Have you tried that?

I also heard that you should stay away from caffeine and lots of red meat during that time. Drinking water also helps a lot. If all else fails, Naproxene (it's prescription) works REALLY well.

Oh yeah, by the way, your son is really cute. :)

Hi! I'm doing well. :) Thanks!

Yeah, I've heard caffeine as well. 99% of the time, I drink caffeine free pop anyway, but I have cut way down on the amount of caffeine I do happen to drink when it is that time of the month. :)

Oh, and you know, I'm sure we could find someone around here with a little pull in case you wanted a status other than Guest. LOL ;) I'd love to have you around more often. Sometimes, I just need someone to complain to about how much of a slave driver my boss is. :shifty: :D hehe

:) Glad to finally join the group. I got rid of the gotsmylam account. Apparently, I had 2 user ids. I don't really care about my "status." Actually, I don't even know what it is now. Oh well.

Well, let me know if your boss is giving you a hard time. I will do whatever I can to set him straight.

However, in his defense, he works his butt off. I know. :neartears
