Posted this on Fatwallet this morning after the 1.8 deal died. I ordered one for my mom.

Not as good as the 1.8Ghz deal, but because I couldn't get that one, I was back and forth and this is what I did get:
Dell 4500s link (http://www.dell.com/us/en/bsd/offers/specials_3x_dimen_4500s_mcrec.htm)
DimensionTM 4500S
and then I added the 10% off code 2E61C54CE9FE (10 %off) and with the free shipping = $0.10 - $100MIR = $310.10

Simply choose:NEW Dimension 4500S and then Featured Systems. I actually added the modem, but here it is:

Actually, the P4 1.8Ghz for $385.10 after rebate for the Dimension 4500 is still good. :)

I think the real reason to get it is the AGP slot. The 4500S has an integrated video chip, which lacks some of the flexibility. You can get the 4500s with a P4 1.8ghz for $376.10, which will give you a performance advantage over the 1.7ghz celeron, but the 4500 is probably still a better choice if you can swing the extra $75.

exactly why i went with the 4500 instead of the 4500s, besides it's an actual p4 1.8, i upgraded to the 64mb ddr geoforce w/tv out, total after coupies and tax came to $493... plus i get $100 back in the mail

Yes those are all fine and dandy, but $310 is still hard to beat for a computer for your mom, wife, or somebody that just needs a box and not a powerhouse. The average person won't know the dif between a 1.8 true p4 and a 1.7 celeron. Also if all your doing is email, word processing and web surfing, why spend the extra...:D

Definitely, $310 for 1.7ghz is still an awesome deal. :)

The Dimension 4500 (1.8Ghz) is still a better deal though!
