View Full Version : Booking Shows For A Band
So, my friends band has assigned me as their manager and want me to book some shows for a band. I've never done this before but I have sort of the idea. I'm working on creating a press kit to send to clubs (biography, few pictures, cd). I know basically i'm trying to sell the band and make clubs think its worth while for the band to play there. Anyone have any experience doing this and can give me any tips or any help? I just built them a website this past week. It's not the best looking website but I think it looks decent.
Any comments on that too? Thanks a bunch guys. :)

ya we used to try to book our own gigs. what a pain in the ass.
round here - ease coast - song lists sometimes help
something els that can help is to show the manager your mailing list.
a long list of "potential customers" - if they have a good list, you can tell the manager that you can "guarantee" that X number of people from the list will show up at the gig. that will really pleasse the manager, and if you get a good crowd, it will also help to get you booked at the club again.
hope this helps :)

Is the band all original or do they play covers?
Usually its easier to book cover bands in local bars. I have a friend in a local cover band, and they are ALWAYS booked.
You might want to check out their website for some ideas.
Oh wait...did I read correctly? They're *gasp* Aggies  !!!!???
No No No!...say it ain't so Memo! :P
Not a cover band. Original rock band. They play some covers when they want to (Radiohead - The Bends, AC/DC - Back in Black, Toadies - Away, Black Crowes) that's some of the covers they've done. They try not to do covers though unless a venue asks for a long set or such. And yes DBAX they're aggies ;) Thanks for the tips hoey.
