Hey guys,
Lastnight I downloaded RealOne player because I wanted to view a video that was a .RM file. I installed Real and went to play the video. The video played but there was no sound. After playing around with the setting for a while I realized that when I go to system sounds, they don't play either. I don't get any sound when I shutdown or boot up. The funny thing is that Windows Media player can play sound and video just fine as well as Kazaa's media player. It's just that Real Player cannot. I have also noticed that a text-to-speech program I have does not play sound anymore as well as the systems own text to speech program. I have uninstalled the sound card and reinstalled it but that doesn't work. I'm thinking some kind of port somewhere in my system has been clogged up by a program I have installed or long since removed. Do you think it would help to install XP over the top of my current system? Would I lose any data that is on my system by doing this? I am running Windows XP Pro by the way. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated!
