In the last 6 weeks, 4 soldiers' wives have been murdered by their husbands. 3 of the soldiers were with Special Forces in Afghanistan and had just gotten back recently.
:( This is VERY sad and incredibly frustrating.

indeed.. very disturbing.. :( i have no clue what the soldiers are going through.. but my theory is that they come back from a quite stressful mission.. they fight, shoot, and kill people, and they are taught that its for the better good.. n'd when they get home.. they are still in this mode, and the least bitty thing may trigger some over the edge.. i'm wondering if this is becoming an issue at other bases all over.

Man... that is sad. :(
I'd say kill those guys, but two of them have already committed suicide. Not sure what to make of this... though I am living next to the naval base...

Probably set off by something stupid unfortunately. Poor families... did any of them have children I wonder?

Infidelity in the military is an enormous percentage. I'm not sure of the number but I remember a couple of years ago it was a ****load higher than in non military marriages. Not that I condone at all, but I could see one of these soldiers going off to war with only their family keeping them going, coming home to find out the wife was banging the platoon sergeant in his absence. I could see something like that making one of these guys snap.
But it also could have been stupid. Either way it's a damn shame. They should put all the families through counseling while the soldiers are at war, as well as when the soldiers get back.

When I was TDY (Temporary Duty) to northern Italy for six months, I saw what went on when the husbands were away. There was an Army Airborne base down the street (Caserma Ederle in Vicenza). I was there when a bunch of soldiers went for a three month TDY to Bosnia. The NCO club was extremely busy during that time. When they came back, the club was dead like it usually was.
Since my Dad was in the service, I've seen this kind of thing many times over many years. There's an old saying "What happens TDY, stays TDY". When I was cross training in southern Mississippi in the mid 80's, almost every married man there was fooling around. I'm sure that some of their wives were also doing the same thing. I don't know if it's like this in the world outside of the military, since I have limited experience in that respect (I retired 1 Aug 2001).

Exactly it was just like that where I was stationed in Germany. My unit was a field unit, which means basically that there was always a company or two out in the field. Every single time when soldiers would go out to the field, there were always a group of wives that would come down to the barracks. Pretty schitty stuff. It was times like these that I knew that there was no way that I would ever get married while in the military. Too much pressure as it is to be worried if your significant other was out "throwing feet" with one your fellow soldiers.

Damn, that's bad. I feel sorry for the families too. Fort Bragg was about 45 minutes from my old home in NC.
because 3/4 of them were special ops, i'm surprised nobody said something about it being a special training they may have rec'd or some gov't type experiment like in the movies (jacob's ladder et al).
