I just read about this this morning...

Apparently there are 9 coal miners trapped in a 4-foot-high shaft 240 feet underground. They are still attempting to rescue them. :(

Damn that must have sucked when the first bit broke. But I am surprised at how fast those things drill. If we get them out safely, it will definitely go to show how quickly people here spring into action. Remember when that Russian sub went down last year? By the time they figured out what the hell to do the sailors had already died. In times like this you gotta think on your feet, which it looks like they are doing.

Big propas to them.

FoxNews is reporting that all 9 miners are alive as of now!

They are getting ready to work on getting them out. Here's a map of where they are trapped.

That's absolutely amazing... I'm just in awe that they got those guys out of there.

I'd have put money down that the miners had died. Just seemed too much like the Kursk sub accident, I guess....

Major credit to all involved... this restores some of my hope in these kind of rescue attempts.

I stayed up and watched and it was incredible. They did it is 15 minutes per guy. Awesome. :)

i agree totally.

call me cynical, or call me negative, but as soon as i heard about it, i figured they weren't going to be saved.

so when i heard that they ALL got out, safe and alive, i was excited. i guess right now there's just so much negative and sad news, it's nice to see a bright spot.

 to the rescue workers and the miners
