I was readin around online and found part of the script to the movie... enjoy:
:::start:::
INT. KATE'S ROOM.
Kate's room is empty, and Dade can't resist going back in
to play with her laptop, which far outclasses his own,
some more. On the balcony, Kate notices and comes back
in.
KATE
What the hell are you doing?
DADE
It's cool, I'm just looking.
KATE
It's too much machine for you.
DADE
Yeah?
Dade starts working furiously on it.
KATE
I hope you don't screw like you type.
Dade slows to a two-finger keypoke, not missing a beat.
DADE
It has a killer refresh rate.
KATE
P6 chip. Triple the speed of the Pentium.
DADE
Yeah. It's not just the chip, it has a PCI
bus. But you knew that.
KATE
Indeed. RISC architecture is gonna change
everything.
DADE
Yeah. RISC is good.
They uncomfortably exchange glances.
:::end:::

yeah, back then when I don't know jack about computers it was cool. Actually now that I think about it, that movie played a big part in me getting started to tinker with computers... geez how time flies.

"My name is Joey and, I'm not an addict. No really! See these guys showed up at my place and took my computer away and... could I get some more coffee?!"
:heh:
I thought the movie was pretty good for it's time like Corsec said, but yeah, a little off base...

"my name is the plague..." i never understood why he was a skater? and do all IT specialists look like PENN from penn and teller with some big @ss screen...with files constructed to look like the new york skyline? i think a lot of people got a misconception of what it looks like inside of a computer.

There was definately some "Artistic Licence" taken with the reality computer science in that movie. But face it. Having some geek typing in unix comands and only getting a prompt back would just not be to exciting for the average movie watcher.
Allowing for the realities of box office necessity, it was a great movie.

Actually I just watched Antitrust and i thought they did a GREAT job with it! While not entirely accurate, it was one of the more realistic computer movies i've seen.
