Taught some of my non-chinese friends this game and we've played it at least 4 hours the past 4 nights. Anyone else play? :)

mah jong is off the heazy!!! i was taught a long time ago, but it's sorta hard to get 4 people together that know how to play. i'm not to good on tabulating the scores but other than that it's the shizzznit.
oh yea, and big 2...i've lost a lot of money playing that with the family on chinese new years and stuff....ah memories.
i remember when i was in hong kong, going up in some of these resterants with like 6 tables of old folks just slamming the mah jong down like dominos (if you haven't seen it, you won't know what i'm talkig about).

Haha, yeah, then you hear the stories about the old lady that thought she won, but didn't and then dropped dead on the table. Crazy old people betting psycho money on those games!

Hmmm...not sure. I'm not familiar with the game deuces. Basically, big 2 is a game of 2-4 players where each person gets 13 cards and the point is to get rid of all of your cards by throwing down singles, pairs, three of a kinds, or some five hand poker combination (except 2 pairs). First person to get rid of his/her cards wins. It's called big 2 because 2 is the highest card. It's very similiar to the game Pasoy dos (pretty sure that I spelled that wrong), and the vietnamese game 13 leaves. How is deuces played? :)

uhm. the game you explained IS deuces. I'm assuming Big2 is direct translation from cantonese which is "dai dee".. game called "Cho dai dee" correct? I think I've tried the vietnamese version too, but I forget how that goes.

I used to play with my family a lot. Now I just play on the computer. I think you can buy the game at www.ninedragons.com or go to NYC. I went there and got a version with famous actors as computer players. Then of course you can always play strip mah-jong on the computer...I tell ya...chinatown NYC has it all it seems.

Hahaha...I had that version too. After a few years and when my dad couldn't play fast enough after his stroke I bought the new Windows 95 version so he can play at home. I would show him how to play on Yahoo! Games but I think that would be too slow for him. They need to make a multiplayer version through a LAN.
