I really liked how the menus that I never use would dissappear in Win2k. This doesn't seem to be happening in WinXP. Is there a preference or setting that I need to change?

Are you talking about the AUto-Hide Start bar? Which makes it so when you mouse over the bottom of the screen the bar pops up? If so right click on the start bar and click properties. Then set Autohide on

In windows2000, the groups in the start menu that you didn't use for one week would be hidden, much like the unused menus in OfficeXP. For some reason, this doesn't happen for me in WinXP. There has to be an explanation, since WinXP is basically a prettier version of Win2k.

I'm not sure what you're asking, but I think Personalized Menus are turned on by default for XP users.

I find them annoying, myself-- I always turn 'em off.

correct me if i'm wrong,
