Alrighty guys...say I want to lose weight, and my process is like this...I eat no breakfast and no lunch...but I eat dinner. I say I burn more calories(by the day, and by running at night) than I eat, do I lose weight? Or the other process I go...I eat breakfast, lunch...skip dinner, and I still do the regular work during the day and running at night. Which process am I going to lose more weight on?

thx

i'm by no means a health monkey but i can tell you this... you wont stick to that plan for more than a week!
Heres what i do:
Eat what you want, just do it in moderation! Watch your caleries and leave room for lunch and dinner. I occationally skip breakfast but thats just cause i'm used to it. Also excersize, but don't over due it.
As soon as you cut off your caleries your metabolism is going to drop so ease into the diet. I often splurge one day a week :) which isn't too bad since my body doesnt get used to so few caleries.

I'm sure others have better advice.

It's more beneficial to eat more frequently, but less at each meal rather than to skip a meal.

i say, just watch what you eat: don't eat ANY fast food, more fruits and veggies, and eat more frequently, if you can, with smaller portions. like, during the day, try to snack on apples or carrots or something, like a horse. :P oh, and of course, exercise regularly.

obviously this takes a lot of discipline, which i don't have. but if you stick to it, you'll be a lot healthier, i'm sure of it.

I'm diabetic, and my doctor is convinced that me eating all day long is keeping my blood sugar more level than if I only had 3 meals a day....one thing I NEVER SKIP..breakfast..always have oatmeal for breakfast..

By no means should you skip any meals.... actually try to switch to about 5 SMALL meals, if you can't do 5, then do at least 3 it will increase your metabolism, try not to eat after 5, and if you absolutely must, then eat a fruit. Never eat until you feel like you are about to explode, seriously all you are doing is stretching your stomach. Cut down on juices, unless they are fresh squeezed... no tropicana DOES NOT count.
Run before every workout, if you don't want muscle mass then do not drink protein shakes or creatin or whatever else you might be tempted to drink... if you want to tone your body, then too small weights in 4 sets of about 15-20 reps.
Try to work out at least 3 times a weak, and i mean it is the very very very very least you should do, you should try going for about 5 or 6 days a week, leave the 7th day to rest. Also designate an off day when you can eat anything your heart desires, and don't feel guilty about eating it, for every other day watch your calories, and forget soda (coke, pepsi, sprite), drink water

I gotta admit that got me laughing . . . but it is SOOOO wrong!!!

Just so this post can be somewhat constructive, I will agree with the others who have said DO NOT skip a meal. When you are hungry . . . eat . . . but make sure you eat is not bad for you. A snack is dandy . . . so long as it isn't chips or a chocolate bar or something . . . heck, try a small bag of pretzels if you have to. And yes, forget sodas. 250 calories in a 20oz bottle . . . that's horrible! Drink water! And try to have some low calorie protein before going to bed. While you are sleeping is when your body actually creates most of your muscle. If you leave your body without protein during the 8 hours of the day that it is making the most muscle, it isn't a great idea . . . try an apple with some peanut butter, or some non-fat cottage cheese before going to bed. Just my opinion ;)

If you eat earlier in the day your body will have more time to burn the calories. So go with the breakfast and lunch option. Food eaten late in the day is the most counter productive for weight loss purposes. The food is stored (turned to fat) while you sleep.

And to go against the tide of advise...If your diet is like most Americans you take in enough calories in two meals during the day, so why have three? It is best to take in calories in smaller chunks over a longer time but if that is not practical go with breakfast and lunch and just a "snack" for dinner.

Breakfast should be skewed toward carbs while everything else should emphasize protien. Cut as much fat (particularly saturated) as possible. Your new best friends should be Yogurt, chicken, tofu, and especially tuna.

Last but not least, do a balanced workout where you address cardio to burn fat and weight training to increase lean muscle mass and increase your metabolism.
