A neighborhood ice cream vendor was shot in the stomach Saturday afternoon by three children between the ages of 12 and 14 years old, Phoenix police said.
The vendor, who's in his mid-40s, was approached by the children near 41st Avenue and Monte Vista Road shortly after noon. One of the children aimed a handgun at the man and demanded his money, then shot him, police said.
The man's injuries weren't life threatening, said Sgt. Randy Force, a Phoenix police spokesman.
The suspects escaped without the money.
