got this from from that web gaming news site:
A teenage Filipino girl is shot dead after allegedly beating a schoolmate at a computer game.
According to the Phillipine Star newspaper, a teenage Filipino girl has been shot dead by a schoolmate for teasing him after beating him at a computer game. Veronica Galang, aged 17, had apparently been playing the game (at this time, it's not clear which one) at a computer shop near her home.
The victim was heard teasing her schoolmate about his "subpar play" and upon leaving the shop suffered a fatal bullet wound to her left eye. Police are still looking for the as-yet-unidentified schoolmate, who shot Galang using a homemade gun.

I bet the guy was talking mad ish though, and then lost to a girl, he must have been humiliated, but no reaon to kill her.... :(

i wonder if he jump-strafed around her and humped the body...that seems like the only logical thing to do, at least he got the head shot~!

and well, the homemade gun idea reminds me of the movie "Murder at 1600" or somethin, with Clint Eastwood, and I forgot that other dude's name.

Murder at 1600 was with wesley snipes and dennis miller
In the Line of Fire had Clint Eastwood and John Malkovich(sp?)
And it's just sad that someone would kill someone over a video game.

its just f'ed up when someone takes the life of someone else over something as remedial as a video game... now i dont blame video games... i blame crazy people who cant control themselves and in this case are EXTREMELY poor losers... i hope this kid untils hes caught suffers with greif and regret until hes justly dealt with... and to the girls family ... hope they can deal with this loss... *thought provoking* :hmm:

honestly i dont see the humor in it either...it was late at night when i posted i think, or was it idk we either way i was tired. In regards to the homemade gun, its fairly easy to make a gun out of a pen that will shoot 9 milli rounds, although alot slower, still deadly if they got shot in the eye. Did it ever say what game they were playing?
edit: my guess is that the game was the straw that broke that psyhco camels back. There must have been more than a video game involved in the shooting, im not encouraging it at all, but we all must be a little naieve (spl?) to think that it was JUST a video game that made him snap, if it was, he must have had some serious underlying mental issues going on there, if it wasnt a video game it was gonna be something else

hmmm i think that the game was just a last straw also or maybe made it a heat of the moment thing... but u know ppl will focus on the game more thne the kid's mental stability...

how about if the kid was playing some mahjong before the killing? what would get blamed then, the kids mental instability or a board game?
a kid that plays gta3 and then goes and trys to collect hidden packages and kill pedestrians down the street from him has MENTAL ISSUES. HE ALREADY IS ****ED UP IN THE HEAD. a bird flying by his head could set him off!!! GAMES DONT KILL PEOPLE PEOPLE KILL PEOPLE
Violence sells. Plain and simple. Sex sells, people watch pornos read penthouse. Are we gonna blame rapes on magazines, we havent yet. The Video game industry gets bagged everytime because they are capitolizing on a hot market, just like playboy and the like.
If we wanna blame violence on games, we need to extend this a little further. Every industry has influence on our minds. Think of hunters for example, They shoot defensless animals in the woods, but when a hunter kills someone, we dont blame it on that they get a rush out of putting a bullet into the back of a deers head do we?

FYI: More people have been shot after a hand of poker than any video game.
I do think that some people have issues and it doesnt take much to set them off.
Smack talkin is fun but in many cases its also lethal. Could of been sports or a kid making fun of his appearance that would have set him off.
Premeditated? Why bring a real gun to CS, etc?
