Man, I gotta start sleeping earlier, that way I won't get that late night craving and end up getting really fat (college has already taken a jab at me already). It's funny.... I had a conversation with a friend of mine the other day, and she does the same thing I do... try to sleep earlier so that you won't go digging in your fridge 2am. Ah well.... time to sleep on an empty stomach, niteys G|A.

what i do is simply don't eat when i get the urge.

my day of eating consists of this:

1) Wake up
2) Skip Breakfast
3) Eat Lunch
4) No Snacking
5) Eat Dinner
6) 50 Push ups and 100 Sit ups before bed
7) Bed

That is what I have limited myself to to lose weight. I can't do any diet things and I don't want to. So, for lunch and dinner I just eat whatever seems right. Lunch I might have fast food or something, but dinner is whatever the family makes. Pot Roast, Steak, etc. Usually something healthy.

You could probably lose more weight if you ate a light breakfast and had a snack between lunch and dinner. Maybe an apple or carrots or something good for you.

I'm actually trying to trim some of my gutt right now as well. I'm at 220 and I would "like" to get to 190 but I would be happy with 200. I've been running my bells off after work lately, eating healthy snacks and crap like that. I am hoping to hit 200 by October.

Anyone else trying to shed some flab?

while it seems like the whole world is trying to shed the weight, here i am bustin my butt (or lack of it) tryin to gain weight. :P And I eat whenever I'm hungry. No use in starving myself. I've noticed sometimes if I ignore my hunger, my vision goes weird, and I may get headaches.. Thats when it gets pretty bad. :P

I was at 95 for the longest time. When I transferred to a uni from my JC, I lived in my apartment, cooked myself, etc. I gained about 10 lbs or so. People have said its shown. :) I eat mostly meats, rice, pasta, soups, juice, soda. Rarely any junk food. But yet, I don't think I'm healthy. Probably cuz I'm missing a key ingredient in the mix: veggies :puke: But yeah.. I can down more food than most of my friends. :D

:8) Five years ago, when I needed to lose some fat, I starting eating decent breakfasts(carbs/proteins) and lunches(carbs/proteins).
Took multi vitamins and excercised 3-6 times a week.
20 minutes of cardio and a weight lifting program. For fun basketball or swimming.
I cut out sodas and excessive sweets, juices, dairy stuff and drank lots of water.
Dinner before 7PM. At night I cut out as much carbs as possible. Smaller quantities of rice or patatoes or bread. As much chicken, tuna or steak as I wanted. I would take out as much fat/skin as was conveinent.
Smaller/better servings, divided into 4-5 meals.
If I wanted candy, I'd eat some before working out. Desserts at lunch instead of dinner.
I avoided potatoes and with beef cuz it supposedly slows digestion.
Went from 215 to a fairly solid 165-170. Hurt my shoulder and I'm now at 185 but I'll get back to 165 before summer ends.
Good luck,

nice nice... i want to get to that weight.. actually for my hieght they say I should be at 140  man... that is hard to get though... I am pretty much starting to do that same now (starting this summer) and I am down a bit now, just hoping to keep going down to a healthy weight, it is hard to cut out carbs though cause I love rice, but right now in the summer I just plainly don't make rice so it is rare for me to have carbs at night (lunch time I do though) I want to lift weights to gain some muscle mass for bruning but my gym at the apt doesn't have any =( do I really need to take vitamins? hehe good thing I usually never have a craving for sweets... =)

actually you won't get fat if you have a snack..depending on what that snack is..every night before bed I have 1/2 of a turkey sandwich with a little mayo, and some skim milk..sometimes also have yogurt with that..starving yourself before bed-causes lower blood sugars in the morning-and of course if you aren't eating breakfast that makes the situation worse by lunch/snack time. Don't be foolish with your body. EAT-IT'S GOOD FOR YOU.

I think I'm on the same page as Nuts on this one. I have gone to a fast food place at least 5 times per week for every week of my summer vacation. Usually, I drink a soda a day, but sometimes it's two.

I am stuck at 117lbs. :(

you know... i just realized i rarely see overweight asians, except for maybe sumo wrestlers.

Theres something about computer geeks that prevents most from being at a normal weight though. Either their skinny or fat.

I tend to slack off during the school year and put on like 5-10 extra pounds. And at the start of every summer for the past three years i start working out again. This summer i started out a little later, about 2 weeks ago, and its crazy how fast it comes off! Its very encouraging to wake up and see visable results.

FYI: Protein (tuna, chicken, beef, etc) is a better route to go at night. Carbs(bread, rice, yogurt has lots) are calories that when not burned turn into sugars and than, if not burned, into fat.
Its not a huge deal to eat a small meal at night but when your body is naturally going into sleep mode your carbs dont burn off.
Protein goes to build muscle etc. and will force your body to burn off fat.
This can make a huge difference in weight loss.
Another trick is to do cardio for 20+minutes before eating in the mornings. The body will be literally running on fat for that time span.
Eat meals ASAP after workouts. To replenish and give muscles something to work with.
Good luck

hmmm, what is cha siu bow????

anyways...
yeah, i was 160 going into college...gained 15-20 my first year. went down to 170-175 by senior year, then started my wendys 99cent menu diet my senior year....had 2 jr bacon cheese burgers, cripy nuggets with hunny mustard, and a sprite every night. went up to 180...
then, I started work...went up to 190+ (never getting to 200 - and can you say in the red? :P).

since the first 6 months of work, I've been trying to at least eat healthier-no time to excersise :( limiting my red meats, mostly chicken and fish.

so, yeah...
I'm definitely thinking I should lose weight.

I'm too sleepy to get up in the morning to excersize (geez, notice i can't spell that word - simply cause i never do it/talk about it).
and, err....
so, yeah, I'd like to go play ball or some tennis....
but..yeah.

I'd like to get back to about 165. I'm currently at 180-185.

Deos running in the morning really help in losing weight? I wonder how the results are and also how early do people wake up to run? I already wake up at 6:45 to get to work... but if there is a significant advantage to run in the morning then i will get up earlier for that... i do walk/jog in the afternoon after work then swim...

yeah there is an advantage... it keeps your metabolism higher than normal so you end up burning more caleries during the day. I actually woke up to go running at 6 this morning (for the first time ever!). I almost always run at night cause waking up is a pain.

i'm 6'0",i used to be 170 lbs but according to my scale i'm now 155 even though i don't see how that could be.

I was under the impression that you burn more fat if you eat a little before you work out in the morning, as that food acts at a catalyst for your body and makes it burn fat at a faster rate. Meat for midnight snack? I dunno... doesn't sound too tempting...prefer the carbs, which is why I avoid eating late all together...hehe.

Anyway, I'm 5'7 and 145 pds....anyone know what the supposed/average (wait...avg americans are overweight...scratch that) weight for someone my height is?

Since I'm not working this summer and basically sitting on my butt for the summer, I try to keep the pounds from adding on, as my six pack fell to a 3 pack (2 up top and one big one on bottom :D ) since college. I either workout (curls, pushups, situps) for 45 mins or play handball all day for every day of the week.

Well, I'm not Asian like Nuts and Passwird, but putting on weight has always been the toughest part for me.

Doesn't much matter what I eat. Though I don't tend to eat a lot, and I avoid fast food/junk food most of the time. Not out of health concerns... just because I don't like 'em.

Went on a high calorie diet back in high school... shakes, mixes, add-ins, all that fun stuff. Didn't gain a pound. Just got hyper and burned it off. So I gave it up before I drove my parents nuts.

Even now, I'm 31... and I weigh about 5 pounds more than I did when
I graduated from high school. And all of those 5 pounds have come in the last 3 years since I got married... I suspect because my wife is a much better cook than I am. :P

well, for me.. my "snacks" are the size of many people's meals. I don't eat anything special for any one meal. What I eat for dinner, I can eat for breakfast, lunch, or other snacks. And the portions are just as big.

Just last night, my midnight snack consisted of a 10-inch bowl-plate of rice with a bunch of chicken, and a glass of OJ. Shortly after, I slept like a baby.

thats not like me. I don't go to fast food places too often. :P But depending on what scale I check on, I vary from 107 to 117. heh, and I checked the scale to make sure its accurate. I measured 107 at home, 117 at Costco, and a range of weights when I weighed myself at Macys. I tried jumping on the scale with minimal amounts of baggage. NO! I didn't not strip down in the store just to weigh myself. :P

Beer's definately got to be the biggest offender. Let's see.... 200 calories per can, lots of carbs. 4-5 on average per event....That's already half your daily intake! And contrary to the asian myth, my liver can take A LOT of booze. :D

On the weight model thing, there's one thing I never understood. If someone is 5'7 and 145, how do you measure the 145? Like... If you have 10 pounds of upperbody muscle, compared to 10 pounds of gut fat. How do you know if you're actually suppose to be your weight or whatever?

lunch will consist of minestrone,or pasta fagioli, some nice fish, and a big ass salad with everything on it..(don't forget the crusty bread dipped in olive oil)
and dinner..well, PASTA PASTA PASTA, with meatballs, braciolle (rolled flank steak filled with romano cheese, parsley and garlic),sausage,a huge antipasto, and 33lbs of cheesecake for desert.
