engraved bracelet?

giant stuffed animal? like a nice one from FAO Schwartz?

write her a song and serenade her? or if you guys have a song together, then maybe sing her that one?

candlelight dinner or dessert in a grassy park in middle of the night, or at the beach?

take her to watch a nice musical?

make your own greeting card for her?

picture of you two in a frame? heart locket?

make her something she'll like?

goodness i have too much time on my hands...

Eh - I wouldn't do something "big", because you'll be expected to out-do it for every anniversary from here on out.

I'd say a nice-ish dinner at a place you can comfortably afford and that's "special" enough that you can go back to for the next "event".

First, undertand the etymology of the word "Anniversary": the latin words annus (year) and versus (to turn). The Latin word anniversarius means "returning annually".

Therefore, by definition an anniversary is a yearly observance.

...not every month

...not every six months

Don't do anything. If you do, more of the same silliness will be expected in the future.

Not a guy, but I agree with the others...I would save the really special something until the one year anniversary. Maybe you could cook her a nice meal and give her a card or something. Good luck, and congrats!

hahahaha, we actually joke about those couples that are like..."honey, it's been 3 weeks since we first held hands...honey, we've been together for 2 months, 3 days, and 6 hours...etc..." i'm not trying to go over board, but we both agreed a long time ago that the 6 month mark was import as well as each annual mark. but i'm not trying to do something fantastic like arrange a fireworks display in her honer...just something special...that's all.

Personally, I'd give her stuff even if it weren't a 6 month anniversary. In my case, I just randomly buy my girl little things, flowers, cook her dinner, etc. I just don't think you need a certain date to tell her how much you love her. I think the 1 year anniversary should definitively not be overlooked though.

Keep it simple and sweet. Here's something you can do that I did when we were dating, and my wife still brings up, 18 years later:

Plan your evening to the minute. Go to a movie or whatever you normally do. Arrange to have a pizza delivered to a secluded spot on a beach or park. Have the pizza guy bring a bottle of wine (if you're old enough). Make sure he has flowers. This may be too much to have a pizza guy do, so see if you can find a friend to do it (preferably someone she doesn't know - so you get all the attention, not your friend.)

Then just sit in the park (on a blanket, not a picnic table), eat pizza and drink wine. Don't drink too much, because you're driving. Use non-alcholic wine if you're under 21.

Anyway, chicks love the fact that you went to all the trouble to plan something like this.

BUT BE WARNED!!! FOR THE REST OF YOUR TIME TOGETHER SHE WILL SAY...

"Remember that pizza thing? Why don't you do stuff like that anymore?"

Give her what guys usually give girls to celebrate a special event:

1. Flowers
2. Candy
3. Promises you have no intention of keeping. :)

Get her a full beauty package at a local beauty salon. Facial, Manicure, Pedicure, Massage, etc...

Then take her out to dinner.
